Cricket season may be over but we have plans over the off season to make our boundaries more pleasant and quaint by having hedging around our boundary adjoining onto the housing estate. It has already started with some hedging already been planted but we are looking to raise further funds to support and raise towards our RCC Hedge Fund.
To do this we are running last man stands once the Premier League fixtures return after the international break on 10th October.
Entry will be £10 and be split between the winner and the Hedge Fund.
Those who are not familiar with how Last man stands work. Each week you select a team to win, if it wins you are through to next round but draw or lose you are eliminated. However you can only select a team once.

🚨Weekend Results 🚨
Final game of the season saw rhe 1st team finish on a high beating Notton Challengers.
Stand skipper Luke Wade loss the toss but seemed like a good one to lose. As Notton found themselves 24-3, Waqar azeem found an early breakthrough along with experienced Ellis.
However a mid order resistance saw Notton put 100 runs on the board however the decision to stick to seam bowling kept the score low as wickets were shared out between Waqar 3, Ledger 3, Ellis & Wade 2 apiece as Notton were eventually all out for 173.
In reply it looked like it may be a difficult chase at 8-1 then 40-2 but then a 136 partnership between Pickup & Jennings but the game to bed. A composed 89 by pickup never gave Notton a sniff of his wicket and was unfortunate not to have the chance to get to 100.
However it was a full 16 points to rothwell.

While the 2nds were on the road to Notton, batting 1st and being 34-4 on a green wicket, it seemed like it could be an early finish, however a resilient 27 from Jeffery and 16 from Psaila saw Rothwell reach 105.
In reply Notton knocked them off 4 down, with Khan picking up 2 wickets from his 10 overs and 2 to Psaila

We draw the season to a close with a final game of cricket in 2026 with a chairman’s XI against WY old boys today at Royds lane 2pm.
Hopefully the sun ☀️ stays out for one last time 🍻

🚨Team News 🚨
It’s the final game of the season as it draws to a close. The 1st are at home as we welcome Notton Challengers. Luke Wade will skipper in place of regular skipper McMaster while Baddeley misses too, which sees a return of Harry Dwyer and a call up of experienced Paul Ellis to the team.
While the 2nds are away at Notton, hoping to bounce back after last weeks defeat.

Weekend results!

It was a disappointing weekend as both 1st & 2nds fell to defeat.
The 1st team played away at 2nd in league Horbury bridge, after winning the toss and electing to bat it was always going to be a tough task as they only managed to post 124. Only 4 players reached double figures with Brad Jennings top scoring with 24 and Bobby Roberts with 23.
In reply however they made Horbury Bridge work for it as they had them 17-4 and 61-6. Waqar Azeem was the star bowler with 14 overs for 23 runs & 4 wickets, as Horbury struggled to handle Waqar’s pace & swing.

While the 2nds were at home facing Sykehouse.
At drinks break house Sykehouse were 70-2 off 20 overs. Sadeepa & Paul Ellis displaying very economical bowling, however after drinks break Sykehouse piled on the runs with their aggressive batting, however Shah managed to pick 4 wickets for his 10 overs as the batsmen struggled to handle his swing. However Sykehouse eventually posted 240.
In reply the chase was never on as wickets fell at regular intervals, Shah again was the star with the bat this time top scoring with 39 runs.

🚨Team News 🚨

The first team travel to high flying Horbury Bridge hoping to end their season well. Theo Heseltine returns from his festival activities to take the gloves again.

While the 2nds welcome Sykehouse to Royds Lane. Tim Jeffery returns to the lineup after his brief stint in the firsts last week. Hopefully the two’s see a better game this week as the rain made a rather short 3 over game rather unsatisfactory.
