If you struggle with movement or balance, did you know that a lot of it starts with your feet?
Your feet are those foundations. They provide important information to your brain to help you stay balanced, adapt to different movements and create a stable base for everything above them.
When our feet become stiff, weak, or don't move as well as they should, the rest of the body has to work harder to compensate. Over time, that's often when we start to see issues higher up the chain, such as knee, hip, or lower back discomfort.
A few simple exercises you can try at home:
π£ Stand on one leg for 20β30 seconds each side (hold onto something if needed).
π£ Slowly raise up onto your tiptoes and lower back down with control for 10-15 reps.
π£ Practice spreading your toes apart and lifting your big toe while keeping the others down, then switch.
π£ Walk barefoot around the house for a few minutes if it's safe to do so, allowing your feet to move naturally.
Sometimes improving balance isn't about doing more complicated exercises - it's about making sure the foundations are doing their job first.
