A huge congratulations to our two YR8 girls for their performance in the recent IAPS Tennis championships 2025. A well deserved silver medal and runners-up finish 🥈 🥳

A huge congratulations to Freya and Chloe for securing a silver medal at the U13 IAPS Tennis Championships last week! They demonstrated incredible skill from start to finish, showcasing powerful serves, a versatile range of shots, and impressive focus under pressure. Fantastic effort, girls!

Summer Tennis Camps are HERE!!!
Our eagerly anticipated camps are NOW LIVE so please get in touch to enquire or to book onto one of the two courses we are running this summer.
- 9.30am - 12.30pm for 5 - 9 year olds.
- 9.30am - 3.00pm for 10 - 13 year olds.

With over 10 years of full time tennis teaching and many years of assisting and running large multi-sport holiday camps, we have you covered and look forward to creating a timetable that caters to the needs of your children.

WHAT...A...Week!!
Firstly, we must say a huge sincere thank you to Framlingham College and Ipswich School for hosting the SSTA and LTA Youth Suffolk County Tennis Finals this week just gone, without the wonderful facilities you have, I don't think the finals would be able to go ahead as efficiently and effectively as they do!

OBH Round up:
- 8U Sponge Girls - County Champions🥇.
- 8U Sponge Boys - 4th Place.
- 8U Sponge Mixed - 3rd Place🥉.
- 9U Orange Mixed - 4th Place.
- 10U Green Girls - County Champions🥇.
- 10U Green Boys - 3rd Place🥉.

- 11U Premier Girls - 3rd Place🥉.

In a summer term where over 50 children participated in tennis matches where for many it was their first ever opportunity to compete, Matt, Louis and Josh couldn't be happier with how the children have performed! Furthermore, with 95% of our programme being 30-60 minutes of tennis per week shows the strength of our children in situations where pressure and being uncomfortable applies.
We’d also like to thank Old Buckenham Hall for allowing us the opportunity to run our tennis academy business on site and allowing the time given for the children to partake in the SSTA and LTA Youth schools competitions this summer!

*PERMANENT SCHOOL CONTRACT*
We are now moving towards the completion of our 10th year working with Old Buckenham Hall Preparatory School and during this time, we have had the opportunity to teach hundreds of children, welcoming them into our wonderful sport!
Our delivery of tennis starts as young as 3 years old during their Nursery years then spanning across all of year groups until they depart at the end of Year 8. We also very much enjoy teaching the parents who come onto court with us after drop off in the mornings.
Alongside the teaching of group and individual lessons, we also have a superb record when it comes to the summer term LTA & Suffolk School Tennis Association competitions where we have taken multiple titles in the mini divisions and also in the 13U (YR7&8) year groups too!

Tennis at OBH has been a smashing success, especially after earning the prestigious LTA Tennis School of the Year award last spring. With 150 pupils partaking in weekly sessions between the ages of 3-13 years old, the program continues to serve up inspiration for our pupils, going from strength to strength.

*MEET THE TEAM*
Introducing Mr Matthew Perry, the Head of Tennis at OBH School.

Matt Says:
'During my 10+ years of teaching tennis, I have had the pleasure of introducing hundreds of players of all ages and abilities to our wonderful game! My mission has always been to instil a life long love for tennis and to those that have shared the court with me, I really hope that my passion for the game has come across in my coaching and also when I play the game myself.

The journey started as an assistant at my boyhood club, Sudbury Tennis Club before having the wonderful opportunity to join a coaching team at a local prep school, Old Buckenham Hall (OBH) part time.
Fast forward five years, I was appointed the Head Coach of Sudbury Tennis Club and built the programme to over 100 children partaking in 7 hours of group coaching per week before stepping down from this position to pass it to another passionate coach.
In September 2020, I was promoted to the position of Head of Tennis at OBH school. During the 2024-25 academic year, a programme of 150 children playing per week is a showing of wonderful consistency during the past 10 years of coaching at this venue.
In January 2025, I took the role of Head of Programme at Lavenham Lawn Tennis Club (LLTC) to help with the building and development of the tennis at this venue. With two additional coaches working part time at LLTC delivering individual and group lessons, many are being catered to.
I must thank all of the wonderful coaches that I have worked with during the early stages of my career and continued thanks to those who work with me currently.

In February of 2024, it was announced that my permanent school contract (OBH) was awarded the title of LTA Suffolk School of the Year 2024 which is a fantastic achievement for all involved in the running and delivery of the programme during a busy Monday-Friday timetable.'
