šŸŽ‰Another Teen Enters The BuildingšŸŽ‰

Today we celebrate our Harry turning 13 and officially a teenager.

Harry has been with the Maroons for around 18months and has shown that he is a true sportsman and team player by playing wherever he has been needed.

We have recently asked Harry to look at a new challenge of becoming a strong and effective defender and that is exactly what he is doing. Working hard, listening and constantly trying to better himself and his game.

Have the best birthday and we will see you later on for our match.

Wishing each and every single player and their families a very Happy Easter 🐣

This morning we wanted to give special recognition to 3 boys from yesterdays match for many different reasons:

First up: Harry
Harry has recently moved into a defensive role for us and has done so with enthusiasm and a want to learn and grow in this role. Each and every single week we see him getting his body in the way, pressing attackers out of the box and getting his foot in on shots at goal. He is growing in confidence and has shown what being a team player is.

Next up: Dylan
Yesterday Dylan who was solid in defence and read the game with precision to help us get up the park. His determination to not let anyone buy him and if they did he worked tirelessly to get the ball back. He held his composure and played as strong as we have seen him lately.

Lastly (but not lastly): Harley
Harley showed real strength yesterday in coming on for our Nathan after he was injured. Having not played in goals for awhile he took it in his stride and got stuck in. He put the attackers under pressure when it came to 1 on 1’s and made some great saves too. He also showed that being part of a team sometimes means we don’t always get to play where we want but where we are needed.

*also note to self need to get pic of Harley in his strip šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

CSFA League B Match

Our match this morning saw us back playing at home to league leaders Stirling Albion. It is always a tough match against them as they have some big players upfront who cause us trouble everytime we face them.

We have however changed a lot since we last played them with some new faces coming in (in both coaches and players) and we are developing a new way of play with the team which is really starting to show.

The team today played some great football and whilst Stirling got a goal within the first 10mins we equalised soon after thanks to Calvin being able to put the ball by their keeper after a great bit of play from a free kick taken by Jack up to Ollie who then laid it onto Oscar who found Calvin’s feet.

We had some of the best chances to go ahead but failed to take advantage with their goalkeeper making some good saves.

A couple of unlucky bounces of the ball allowed Stirling to take advantage and do what they do which is make the most of the long ball up to their striker who put another few into the back of the net to make it 5-1.

A big moment in the first half was when a collision between the Stirling forward and our Goalkeeper Nathan meant that we had to fin a replacement keeper quick smart. Thankfully Harley, who used to play in goal, stepped up and stepped into show exactly what teamwork means.

Just before end of 1st half we managed to pull back another goal again from our mighty Calvin who placed the ball in the back of the net.

Half time: 2-5

Second half was very much like the first, we played football the way we have been training and coaching and for that we could not have asked for anymore from them. We definitely played the best football but as we know just playing good football does not always win matches and that is how today felt.

POTM: Calvin Donaldson

Calvin was fierce down both the left and right wing today and didn’t let anything go by him which allowed him to add to his goal tally today with getting our 2 goals.

Massive well done Calvin!!

Last night at training we introduced a knock out 1v1 tournament as part of the session. The aim was to make it a fun exercise for the boys and get them thinking more about how they use their bodies to challenge and not let the other player go by them.

It turned out to be extremely competitive with many of them wanting rematches almost immediately šŸ˜‚ but there could only be 1 winner on the night and it came down to a very closely fought battle between our Captain Luke and Oscar.

What a final it was with both giving it their all, but the inaugural winner on the night was Oscar!

Massive well done, we coaches will be looking to see this drive on the pitch tomorrow.

āœļø NEW PLAYER

This week we welcomed a new player to the Maroons from the Whites. Jacob is someone that our Head Coach Tushar brought into the team based on how he had seen him grow and develop as a goal scoring machine in a short space of time whilst at the whites and knew that he would be someone to bring more up front for us.

Today we saw him debut against Syngenta which allowed him to see how different the level and gameplay is compared to what he’s used to but he handled it really well and made a positive impact when he had the ball.

We are looking forward to seeing everything that he has to offer and we have no doubt that it will be a lot.

Welcome to the team Jacob!

Having the ability to help develop and give kids the opportunity to grow is one of the most rewarding parts of being part of Stenhousemuir FC Community Foundation

Match Report: Syngenta Grange vs Stenhousemuir Maroons

Back to league action for the team today and we knew after our last meeting with Syngenta in a cup that they would be looking for a result.

For ourselves we were missing some key players today which meant that we only had 1 player we could use as a sub. For any team that means it’s going to be a tough match.

Syngenta came out all guns blazing and it was a game which saw them given and miss 2 penalties and push us to play scrappy at times.

A great free kick from our birthday boy and Captain, Luke, saw us go 1-0 up before Syngenta scored a just as impressive goal from outside the box, our goalkeeper had no chance.

We dug in deep and created some great chances and any other day would have seen them in the back of the net but today just wasnt our day.

As disappointing as it is to not have gotten the win today, we are proud of the boys for putting in the hard work today in what was a fast paced game, and with the ability to only rest 1 player at a time they gave it their all.

Our Player of the Match today goes to our goal stopping/penalty saving keeper that is Nathan Barr, who led his back line for the full game, made some sensational saves throughout and also saved a penalty to add.

We will take the positives away from today and work on the areas of focus for next week.

Happy Birthday to Luke, the leader of the pack, who always helps get the team raring to go on match days. He might be new to the captaincy role but the team chose him as they all value all that he brings!

So today we toast and celebrate you on your 13th Birthday. Have the best day from everyone at the club

To all our football mums you absolute legends.
Thank you for washing kits that smell like victory (and mud).
For braving rain, hail, and snow just to shout ā€œGreat pass!ā€ from the sidelines.
For being the taxi driver, cheerleader, snack supplier, and emotional support squad all rolled into one.
You are the backbone of this team, the unsung heroes in waterproofs and wellies.
Today, we raise a toast (and maybe a muddy boot) to you.

Happy Mother’s Day we love you more than extra time!
