In 2024, Hockley Heath Cricket Club marks an incredible milestone: its 150th anniversary. Local author and lifelong club member Dave Bullivant has brought together the rich history of the club and its deep ties to village life in a remarkable book.

The Book
Far more than just the tale of a cricket team, this 272-page book is a lovingly researched social history of village life spanning a century and a half. Packed with over 300 photos and images, it is a journey through forgotten byways, cherished memories, and untold stories.

Dave Bullivant’s writing is brimming with anecdotes—some hilarious, some poignant—all steeped in the camaraderie, quirks, and traditions of village cricket. From the club’s different grounds and colourful characters to heroes and villains, teas, tears, and beers, every page is alive with the vibrant spirit of Hockley Heath.

For the stat lovers, there’s plenty to satisfy. For everyone else, this is a nostalgic celebration of cricket as a cornerstone of community life—capturing the friendships, frustrations, and joy that have defined the club for 150 years.

The Author
Dave Bullivant is a true son of Hockley Heath. Having attended the local junior school, he went on to represent the village in cricket and football, starting his cricketing journey over 60 years ago. Over the decades, Dave has worn many hats—player, captain, secretary, fixture secretary, and finally, Club President. His unparalleled dedication to the club is reflected in the hours spent interviewing former players, uncovering long-lost photographs, and documenting its rich history.

Summer is coming…

Hockley Heath Cricket Club are looking for new players to come and join our fantastic club.

The club folded back in 2008 following 123yrs of history, however back in 2020 the club was reformed with a host of original members and a good addition of new. Hockley play Saturday league cricket part of the Warwickshire League set up, we run two Social Sunday friendly side and are lucky enough to play at some of the prettiest grounds around Warwickshire, Worcestershire and North Cotswolds.

If you’re interested in either playing league cricket or getting into cricket for the first time or just getting back into the game then we want to hear from you.

We welcome players of all ages and abilities. Our season starts from mid April until the late September. Currently weekly nets so if you would like to get involved then get in touch and join up with the Mighty Heath 🏏 🏏 🏏 🏏
