Lochalsh 3-5 NWS
Another close run game in Kyle as Lochalsh are defeated by a classy, well drilled North West Skye F.C.
An even start, where both teams could have gone ahead, that was full of excitement showed that it would be an entertaining game. NWS went ahead after they pounced on a Lochalsh goal kick and coolly finished to open the scoring. A free kick on the edge of the box was placed into the top corner shortly afterwards to make it 0-2. Cameron Godfrey, starting for the first time on the sawdust, got on the end of a tussle at the edge of the box to creep the ball in under the NWS keeper, to make it 1-2 at half time.
The second half started with some fire in the Lochalsh team and Duncan Matheson scored a left footed half volley, from the edge of the box, into the side netting to make it 2-2. NWS would score 2 more shortly after from some nice set piece corners, a running theme for lochalsh this season. The game was far from over, and Lochalsh rallied again, with new debutant Ahmed Zaheer using his brilliant footwork to twist and turn and slam the ball under the NWS keeper. The rest of the game was equally contested, but NWS pressed on and scored right at the end to make it 3-5.
Overall another good display from Lochalsh, playing against one of the best teams in the league and holding their own right up until the end. Thanks to NWS for their sportsmanship and to Norman for refereeing, an entertaining game for certain!

Lochalsh 2-3 Portree
Match report curtesy of AL Cameron
“After almost a three year absence, competitive football made its welcome return to Douglas Park in Kyle. A great effort from all involved to get the pitch ready for us to play on. Good weather, a nice breeze, a barrage of midges and bottles of smidge completed the full hospitality package. But sadly, it was a painful 2-3 defeat to Portree, and we exit this year's Ross Cup.

We started the game very brightly. A ball out wide to Ally Talbot, who crossed it into the box, and found Lochalsh debutant Lewis Fraser, as he netted his first goal for the club. And another debutant, Owen Jack, came on in the second half to get his first minutes for the club. After that, three unavoidable mistakes from our side, lead to three first half goals for Portree. 1-3 at half-time.

Into the second half, constant small errors from us kept on giving Portree the opportunities to add to their two goal advantage, but thankfully, none of those opportunities were taken. A few of our boys played really well; Troy Flanagan made plenty of defensive contributions, David MacAskill worked well in the midfield, and Kyle McBride played some great football down the line, both offensively and defensively. And a big well done to Kyle for getting his first goal for the club, and quite an amazing goal it was. Some will say it was an off-target cross into the box, but I'll be giving him the goal. Certainly the goal of the season for us so far.

That moment really gave the boys a very much needed morale boost going into the final ten minutes. We had a few chances to get the game level and take it into extra time, but some over-weighted passes and some defensive work from Portree stopped us from achieving that late leveller. We hit our purple patch a bit too late in the day. Full credit to Alan and his Portree side for giving us a great game, and I wish them well in the next round of the cup.”

Mallaig 9-0 Lochalsh
A weakened Lochalsh team, missing 9 regular players, travelled to Mallaig on the ferry from Armadale on Tuesday night. The boys put up a good fight but were overwhelmed by a strong, well drilled Mallaig side. Thanks for Mallaig for hosting and Heckie Cormack for making the journey to referee. Next match is home to Portree in the Ross cup, on the 5th of June. Hopefully the boys can get another win under their belts 🟡⚫️

🔴 Kyleakin 2-1 Lochalsh 🟡
An incredibly close game throughout for both sides. We had a lot of great plays, worked the ball really well, and a good few chances came our way. Taking advantage of every Kyleakin mistake that came around. Of course the most notable of chances was our goal. A long, one-touch pass from Troy Flanagan, who was fantastic at the back, got it through to Ryan Grant and slotted it into the net. Getting his sixth of the season, and helping us settle into the game. We end up taking a 0-1 lead into half-time, and it's the first time we've led at the break this season.

The second half was also really good. More chances came and went for us. Our young lads off the bench: Ally Talbot and Charlie Macvicar giving us a real kick of energy, as well as Charlie Maclarenlee doing a solid job at right back. Unfortunately, two goals from Kyleakin's number 9, Archie Gillies, ended up deciding the outcome. With an outstanding free kick on the edge of the box, and a late finish bang on the 90".

Words cannot describe how gutted I am for these boys. They played so so well, yet we came away from it with nothing. But we managed to stick at it against a very fit Kyleakin team for the whole game. The points will come another day. We take on league champions Mallaig next week in another very tough game. And if we play the same way that we did tonight, you just never know what could happen. We need to stay confident and be optimistic with ourselves going forward, the best days are coming for these boys, I can sense it. - Match Report curtesy of Al Cameron
