As the summer leagues have now concluded and all the sums and maths have been triple checked, we can now proudly reveal our results for our 2025 Hertfordshire Summer Leagues. Our Recurve team matched our Indoor Winter League performance and finished top of both the Hertfordshire Archery Association and Hertfordshire Archery Society Leagues! Undisputed Champions of Hertfordshire has a nice ring to it.

It is also pleasing to see members take up different bow styles in the last few months too. Hopefully we will be able to compete in barebow, longbow and compound archery in the coming years as you progress.

We have a limited number of spaces available on our upcoming spring beginner’s course.

9th March 2025 - 1.30pm to 4pm

16th March 2025 - 1.30pm to 4pm

23rd March 2025 - 1.30pm to 4pm

30th March 2025 - 10.00am to 1.00pm (Shoot with the club)

The course will be run at our outdoor range on Therfield Heath and lead by fully qualified Archery GB Coaches. Cost is £60 per person. Minimum age of 12. To book a spot, please get in touch via direct message or comment below and we’ll message you back.

We held our 2024 St Nicholas Handicapped shoot on the Heath this morning. On a cold but calm day shooting conditions lead to several personal bests. Congratulations to those who took home medals and trophies.

We also handed out our 2024 Outdoor Handicap Improvements awards. Congratulations once again to everyone who improved their shooting over the last twelve months.

Royston took a team to Howard Bowmen for our final Hertfordshire league match of the season. The match against last season’s champions proved to be a close affair, however we are pleased to say with a couple of season’s best scores and some good all round shooting, we came away with a victory 2792 vs 2747. Unfortunately due to a loss earlier in the season it means we cannot win the league, however both 🥈or🥉are possible.

We played hosts to the Howard Bowmen for the last league shoot of the season. On a windy day they proved the better archers and have won the league with 5 wins out of 5, as opposed to our 4 wins. Congratulations to all!

The results for the Hertfordshire Archery Association Winter Postal Leagues have now been announced. I’m delighted to say Royston had another season of excellent results and performances. After an increase in the number of archers who wanted to compete, we entered two teams in both the Indoor and Outdoor Recurve Winter Leagues this year. After last years strong performances, our A teams remained in the top divisions, while our B teams were placed in Division 2. After 5 rounds of fixtures we are please to share that our A team won all of our outdoor league fixtures to become County Champions in the Outdoor Recurve Winter League. Our B team also performed well finishing 3rd in Division 2 for both Indoor and Outdoor Recurve Leagues.

As well as team success we also celebrate our members individual achievements. Jack (Men’s Recurve) and Deborah (Women’s Recurve) both finished top of their respective individual tables in both the Indoor and Outdoor competitions. Tammy was also able to claim second place in the Women’s Outdoor league too.

Congratulations and thank you to all our members who helped us towards possibly our most successful winter season in the club’s history. Results from the British Archery Postal Winter Leagues will hopefully follow shortly. I’m sure there will be more achievements to celebrate when they are announced.

As our indoor season draws to a close, we held our Indoor Championships this Thursday evening. The format was the same as previous years with a Bray I ranking round followed by head to head matches. There were many well fought ties during the evening. This included our gold medal match, where after reaching a 5-5 deadlock, the match went to a single arrow, closest to the centre, shoot off. Congratulations go to Jack, who claimed his second Club indoor championship, Mike for his silver medal performance and Andrew for his bronze medal. Also well done to everyone who shot personal best scores for the round.
