Thanks to all who attended the Senior Citizens Ticket uplift at Morrisons Cafe today Thursday 4th June.
Thanks also to The Manager, Myra Smith Morrisons Community Champion, Cafe Staff along with Jo and Isabelle from Dumfries Town Board who assisted in the process of distributing tickets.

After today’s uplift there are a few tickets remaining (approx 40)

These FREE tickets can be uplifted in a first come first served basis of ONE TICKET per person at:

On TUESDAY 9th JUNE between 9.30am (no queueing necessary) and 11am

‼️‼️ NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE GUID NYCHBUR AND JUNIOR GUID NYCHBUR 2026‼️‼️

Guid Nychbur / Junior Guid Nychbur Awards 2026

As in previous years the Guid Nychburris Festival Association are seeking nominations for this year’s 2026 Guid Nychbur and Junior Guid Nychbur Awards.

These awards are presented to a person or persons the judges feel have done their part to be true good neighbours in our town.

You have the chance to nominate some one from your neighbourhood, either individual or a group who deserve the title of Guid Nychbur 2026 or Junior Guid Nychbur 2026 (junior award can be individuals or groups up to the age of 16)

The 2025 winners we ‘Guid Nychbur’ Roy Aitken and ‘Junior Guid Nychbur’ Lissa Titcombe

Roy Aitken is a true Guid Nychbur consistently helping residents of his area of Dumfries, and always there with a helping hand for any task.
Lissa Titcombe was nominated by family and friends for the caring work she does both in her home and in the community, both were popular and worthy recipients of last year’s awards.

Declaring the nomination process open for the 2026 awards, Guid Nychburris Festival Chairman, John Caskie, said

‘Once again we see more and more worthy people nominated for the Guid Nychbur awards and we should be very proud of the calibre of neighbours we have in Dumfries. There are many people who go above and beyond the call of duty to make things easier, and at times better for their neighbours, neighbours who may be a little bit less able or fortunate as others’

John added, 'the members of the judging panel and I are always very humble when we read the nominations, we just wish we could award them all’

GUID NYCHBURRIS 2026 SOUVENIR PROGRAMME

The 2026 Guid Nychburris Souvenir Programme will be available for purchase at tonight’s Woodlands Ride Out.

The bumper programme is packed with pictures of principal characters and information on all Guid Nychburris events is priced at £3 per copy,

Copies of the programme will also be available in local shops over the weekend or beginning of next week.

If your shop / office / cafe etc would be interested in selling programmes on our behalf, please DM the Guid Nychburris page.

Thanks to Solway Print for their help and support in having the programme ready for sale at tonight’s ride out, and for the excellent publication.

From the organisers:

Table Top Sale May 24th , We’re holding a table top sale on 24th May from 11.00 to 14.00 in Kirkton Village Hall.
There's a couple of tables still available if you want to sell stuff - £5.Bric a brac, books and jigsaws, crafts, plants, etc. Teas and coffees available.
Note change of start time to 11.00 - stall holders arrive from 10.00 to set up.

Dumfries Branch of The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) are hosting a ‘FREE’ FAMILY CEILIDH at:
Locharbriggs Community Centre:
Saturday 2nd May
7pm -10pm

Music will be provided by Willie and Ian McRobert along with George Meikle.
Guiding you through the dances (Easy ceilidh, old tyme, and Scottish country dances) will be Jane Meikle and John Caskie.
John will also act as MC for the evening.

This event is FREE to all (under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult)
