Oliver and his nearly 7 month old springer bitch pup. This pup is MENTAL ORIENTAL, she is absolutely buzzing and high on life. That's her natural temperament. Fair play to Oliver he has been very consistent, starting her training at 12 weeks and following the guidance. As a result although she is absolutely electric, she knows how to heel and is learning to contain herself. We've done a little bit of sit and stay but not too much yet, as it will frustrate her at the moment. We are doing some memory retrieves and started her first push back for a dummy. We're not worrying about delivery yet but we have started working on the presentation of the dog after the retrieve as you can see in the last video. Next is to start her hunting. Top work that man 👍

Jezz with his Lab Ghillie. This was teaching him a technical lines across the corner of the pond. From the dogs point of view it's obviously much quicker and easier to go around the pond. We want him to hold his line on the way out and the way back, not to detour and take the easy option. Top job 👍 ( we had a marker dummy already in place, so it's an easy pick once the main task was achieved).

On Sun we did something I'm so very proud of. Sat we were trotting round a show ring but Sun we travelled down south to take our working gundog certificate & we only went & passed! It was quite a challenging assessment with various skills tested; control,hunting,retrieving,obedience & temperament. A water retrieve, a marked retrieve with gunshot over an obstacle, a walk up/drive, steadiness exercise, marked retrieve & a beating line (complete with a spaniel quartering infront of us in the beating line which Benson had never experienced before & just about managed to control his excitement walking to heel in line!🙈) Jumping into the pen to hunt/sweep up & the final exercise to test steadiness again. To say I'm over the moon is an understatement! It's so much harder than showing & I've put in so much hard work, dedication, miles & lots of ££££'s but at just 2.5 yrs old I couldn't be more proud of the little tail wagger! It's a day I'll treasure forever.

Sharon with her dog Daisy, back to grid work after a break working on the delivery. A redirect over a fence to a marker pole. With a nice return over the angled fence. For now we make her deliver the dummy twice to make sure we are conditioning the new behaviour. Love that happy handler, happy tail at the end of the exercise 👍

Huge well done to Beth and her Lab Kite. Winning the Midland Gundog Soceity's ND/NH. This was the pairs very first venture into working tests. Kite has been with us from 12 weeks of age and is testament to all the work Beth puts in at home. Top Job team. What a debut 👍

Couple of water deliveries from yesterday. Beth with her 2 year old bitch Kite and Kimberly with her 3 year old local legend Blondie. Both these dogs have had our ''don't drop training''. This was Blondie's first time back on water after the DD training. Delivery can often be a sticking point for some combinations but we have found a way that works for us and suits the way we train. Typically coming in more toward the later stages in a young dogs training 10 to 18 months usually ( but each dog/handler is different). However Blondie has learnt to hold at 3, mainly because Kimberly is also a bit of a celebrity in our area so has time restraints due public appearances 😉

Back from a long but thoroughly enjoyable week teaching in Sweden. This was my second trip over and the guys also travel to us in the summer. Marlene Edvinsson and her husband PA always make me feel very welcome. Some great dog work and thanks to everyone who helped out on the days. The week finished with a clinic for a Swedish club, where they brought in a fresh dog and handler who I hadn't seen before. They explain what they want to work on and we get to it, then the gallery have a chance to ask questions. Finally I got to choose my new pup, a repeat mating with Marlenes FTCh Burrendale Dee to our own FTCh Rustler Master, Winner of the 2024 IGL Retriever Championship. The pups were 12 weeks old and we even used one in the clinic to demo the real baby stuff. Looking forward to the summer now when the guys come to us for a week. 👍
