Congratulations to former Mountaineering Scotland Mountain Safety Adviser Ian Stewart, who has won the 2021 Cape Wrath Ultra, after leading from start to finish. Ian, who last year set a record for running round all 58 Munros in the Cairngorms National Park, completed the 400km CWU event in a total running time of 50 hours, 39 minutes and 44 seconds.
Ian, originally from Yorkshire, had returned to the event for a second time after a 2018 attempt when he finished, but felt that he didn’t do himself justice. Ian, who is the founder of Trail Running Scotland and coached three of the other race finishers, comments: “I am really pleased. It was never about racing anyone else but about just having a good eight days of running. That was my best eight days of running ever. Last time, I was broken at the Torridon stage of the race and had to limp to the end. I am very pleased with how the race has gone this time,”
Congratulations, too, to Sally Fawcett and Lisa Watson #, who finished in second and third places, in 52:56:23 and 53:25:10 respectively. The friends, who are both members of Dark Peak Fell Runners, also held these positions for the whole challenge from Fort William to the most north-westerly point in mainland Britain.

Today climbing made its Olympic debut! Tomorrow I’ll climb and become an Olympian. 🤯

I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d make it. But here we are. I’ll never be able to express my gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this journey and to everyone who had support me. Thank you all so so so much 💕💕💕

With a possibility of thunder forecast for the rest of the week it's maybe worth remembering that it's more than just some disco lighting and sound effects to accompany your torrential rain: lightning has to be treated with respect and completely avoided if you can.

Anyone interested in dry tooling?

Calling all youth climbers!!

The Scottish Dry-Tooling Club is considering holding a youth introduction to tooling event in the near future and we wanted to guage interest...

The event would be open to everyone ages 12+, even beginner's that don't have any previous experience in Dry-Tooling/iceclimbing (Under 14's will need to be signed in by an accompanying adult)

We want to increase interest in the sport and offer a grass routes entry into the world of using axes. We plan to offer a safe and supportive training opportunity that can help youth climbers develop their skill base and even work towards competitive climbing in the future.

Unlike sport climbing, Ice climbing youth comps have categories up to under 22's so anyone aged up to this is welcome. We have plans in the making for a Scottish ice climbing team in the near future too.

Could you guys let us know in a comment below if you would be psyched for something like this and if you have got any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

This is an interesting idea... there's a guy called MyCimbs who is trying to create an interactive climbing stream on twitch. The problem gets created remotely and he tries to climb and annotate on screen.

I'm inserting a warning about safeguarding as I haven't researched too much about it but it could be an interesting idea to link up members or other clubs for socials?

Hey! I'm My and I like to Climb, hence MyClimbs was created. Follow along my journey to create a climbing community on twitch. My home wall is 8x8 ft, with a 1 foot kicker. I may also stream Slay the Spire and Smash Ultimate on my switch occasionally.
