Hi Friends,
I'm popping in to share with you a very special event I will be participating in.

I will be taking part in the 108 Sun Salutation challenge, taking place on 16 October, in support of the Lumi Foundation, a charity that brings free and low cost yoga and wellbeing to a wide range of people, including:
-Individuals with illnesses or disabilities
-People facing systemic bias due to income, age, racial or cultural identity
-Children from low-income families
-Survivors of violence and conflict, refugees and asylum seekers.

This is very close to my heart, and at the core of everything I believe yoga to be: a practice that should bring everyone wellbeing and peace.

If you can spare the change, consider supporting me as I challenge myself and support a wonderful cause!!

Weʼre raising money to support Lumi Foundation, to provide yoga and wellbeing to everyone, whatever their circumstances!. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

Realistic view of what my practice is at the moment. Short, chaotic but it is mirroring where I am mentally at the moment. The past few weeks have thrown a big spotlight on all of the baggage that the pandemic has given me. Anxiety about the future, uncertainty about the where I am in my professional life, and just a lot of change all bundled up into a ball of stress. But the practice is always there. It may not look like a calm 60 minute practice. It may not always be focused and disciplined. But it’s always there, where and how I need it to be. Some days it looks like 5 minutes breathing in the sunshine. Other days it’s power vinyasa, other days it’s forward folds while I wait for the pasta to boil. But it’s always there. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Find the perfect moment wherever it may hide 🤪 lots of love to you all, my friends!

After a week of action, I needed to start the weekend with a slow, pj clad yoga moment. My energy levels aren’t amazing at the moment, be it due to sleeping issues with my 3 year old son, and in general life getting busier and busier by the minute. But after a gentle practice I feel reinvigorated. Sometimes we just need to get on the mat, as we are, and then the energy just seems to move and shift and it’s like magic. Do you ever do pijama yoga? Or do you want to be prepped and ready?

Dear Friends, we are inching closer and closer to life returning to some form of normal.

My thoughts below around the new normal and how we all need to come back to social life in our own time.

It’s a Thursday morning, and I’m sitting here writing in my favourite bean bag, cup of coffee at the ready, and cosy slippers on my feet. Like many mornings in the the past year, I’ve changed out of my pijamas and into the leisure wear that has been my uniform this year. I may or may not have ...

Todays’s practice: stay still and breathe. Last week or so has been full on. So many work and life decisions being made, weighed, pondered and discussed. All over the background running of life as it gets more hectic with the the gradual end of lockdown. And so while my body gets a lot of movement and love, my mind is feeling absolutely frazzled. So my practice today is to sit, breathe and give my mind a little peace. Easier said than done! That’s why I love having some mala beads, some incense and other ‘props’ for my practice. They help support the meditation practice and bring me back every time I wonder off into a different place. So off I go, off to breathe and nurture calm. See you later!

I am not naturally a calm person. I swing between energy and slump, but calm? Not very often. But I’m getting better at it. Taking time to actively choose calm, sit down, be still. It’s a work in progress. Some days are good days, other days need more patience. But this is the work. Staying, being present. Listening in. Working on it every day. And deepening my practice to incorporate more of the 8 limbs than just asana. It’s a practice, not a result. And I know that it can be intimidating to begin with meditation, but even a few minutes a day can work wonders. Do you meditate? What does the practice give you?

Be a yoga teacher, they said, no more hours in front of a screen, they said! Jokes aside, happy to be working on projects that are stimulating the mind and hopefully of service to others. And grateful to be able to do it at home, with a big jug of coffee and music blasting 🙏 how do you keep yourself productive after all this time working from home? Ps, there’s still time time to sign up for tonight’s class (5pm) to get all that screen time out of your system!! Sign up at coyocoyoga.co.uk!

Happy Friday my lovely friends!!

In this video I wanted to explore what I think happens in my head versus what really happens in my body!

This is an example of proprioceptive headstand practice. So many times when I practice I rely on my sight to know where to place each body part. And yet when I go upside down, my view changes and I really need to FEEL my way. So I took a little time to explore!
What I thought I was doing: legs lower to parallel to floor. What actually happens: not even close!!! Such a great little exploration to really tune in to the body.

Give it a go, whether it's in headstand, shoulderstand or even just legs up a wall. Tune in, change your view and see what happens! You might be surprised!!

Have fun and comment below if you gave this a go and what happens!!

When you are open minded and open hearted, the most curious things can happen. This pose was one of the poses I thought I’d never accomplish. I can’t do splits and I’m still working on arm strength. For some reason I became intimidated by this and never gave it a go, fearing disappointment. And then, I just went for it, thinking ‘why not’. Here is the result. Not perfect, not pretty. But real, unrehearsed, and joyful.
