The fade

Shaping the ball is a key skill in golf. Being able to recover from a semi-blocked position can turn bogeys into easy pars and even open up birdie chances.

When hitting a fade around the trees, remember you’re increasing the loft and launch, so take more club. In some instances I may go up 3 or 4 clubs. The face needs to be open to the path but remember to not aim the face at the obstruction.

When hitting a draw, remember you’re lowering the loft and launch, so take less club. The task is simple: get the face closed to the path, but make sure it’s not aiming at the obstruction.
