How many times a day do you push through because there simply isn’t time to stop?

For many midlife women, the day starts before we’ve even had a chance to check in with ourselves.

We’re managing households, relationships, work, ageing parents, growing children, endless lists and responsibilities. It’s full on and we become so accustomed to carrying the invisible load that stress starts to feel normal.

But just because it’s familiar doesn’t mean to say it’s sustainable.

When your nervous system spends too long in go mode you end up feeling permanently exhausted, irritable, overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected and emotionally depleted.

The great news is that regulation your nervous system is lacking doesn’t have to take an hour of meditation or a complete life overhaul.

The fire of last week has softened into a whisper.

We are currently moving through the dark of the moon the quiet, liminal space between the intensity of the Full Moon and the fresh start of the New Moon.

It is a week for the undoing.

The fire of last week has softened into a whisper.

We are currently moving through the dark of the moon the quiet, which is the liminal space between the intensity of the Full Moon and the fresh start of the New Moon.

It is a week for undoing. If you feel a pull toward solitude or a sudden need to clear your space (both internally and externally), honor it.

This is you integrating.

You are allowing the old versions of you to dissolve so you can step into the next cycle with lighter shoulders.

Transformation doesn’t always look like a breakthrough, often it looks like a quiet surrender and it’s about trusting the void.

Does this feel familiar?

Often, we wait for a massive burnout before we realise we need help.

But our nervous system usually sends smaller, quieter signals first.

If you are dealing with:

☕️ Morning dread
🧠 A loud inner critic
😴 Broken sleep
🤷‍♀️ Stuggle to get through each day

it’s not a sign you’re broken.

It’s a sign that your system is overloaded and needs support.

This is your reminder: You can learn to soothe your system and change the story.

Which is exactly what I did for myself and guided many many many women over the past 13 years to do the same.

It’s absolutely possible for you too.

The first step is to take a slow deep breath, bring a hand to your chest and and tell yourself:

“It’s ok, I am safe and all is well in my world”.

✨ Save this post to remind yourself to take a breath and gently reassure yourself today.

The Energy: You may feel a pull toward old versions of yourself that feel safe, yet you know they no longer fit - I know I certainly am.

This is the gap between fear and true growth, which is why it feels intense!

The Invitation: Dive deep. Use today to shed the structures you’ve outgrown.

Create the space required for your rebirth.

The Affirmation:”I release the versions of myself I have outgrown to make space for the truth of who I am becoming.

The Practice:Take 5 minutes in a wide-knee Child’s Pose (see yesterday’s post).

As you exhale, imagine letting go of the heavy attachments that no longer serve your soul ✨

Ever feel like your brain has too many tabs open?

Extended Child’s Pose with wide knees (Prasarita Balasana) is more than just a yoga posture it’s a physical reset button for your nervous system.

By widening the knees, we create space for the hips to release and the spine to decompress, signaling to our body that it is safe to let go.

My sister introduced me to yoga during recovery from my first episode of psychosis over 30 years ago and has been one my go to’s ever since. I loved yoga so much I did a 2-year teacher training course back in 2014 and have been running local classes since 2016.

Why we love this posture at Self Therapy School:

✨ Regulates the nervous system: Forehead-to-mat contact calms the “fight or flight” response.

✨ Deep Hip Release: Opens the adductors and pelvic floor where we often store emotional tension.

✨ Spinal Decompression: Gently lengthens the lower back and opens the shoulders.
