All you need is a bunch of awesome pirates , some old boxes, bottles , tape and scissors , mix them together and hey presto ….. the coolest model boats and some awesome posing .

Flipping love the enthusiasm and energy out Swallows and Amazons have .

Thursday night
Swallows and Amazons come out to play . Too windy to get out to the main bea h so we played off the gallows . We did get a couple of Toppers out sailing too, however kayaks and repurposed windsurf boards were the most popular play item .

Swallows and Amazons will be out sailing Sailing on Thursday
It’s going to be gorgeous weather hopefully.

The plan is to meet at 3pm. We will tow out three club toppers , if you have your own topper that can come too .

It would be fab to have someone out sailing the Club 2k or any other bigger dinghy who can give joy rides to our little clan of pirates and their parents . If you can do this please message below .
And thank you in advance.

Please arrive ready to go out onto the water . All children must be in wetsuits and everyone is required to wear bouyancy aids and sturdy wetsuit booties .

Parents must accompany their children and are responsible for their children all of the time .

It’s advisable to bring a pic nic or snacks and water plus a warm top to keep everyone happy . It can get chilly . We will sail off the main beach . We can sail, swim , build sandcastles , kayak etc .

Parents , please be vigilant over your child’s whereabouts, children will be reminded that they must let their parent know who they are going off sailing with .

We will be back at the hard at 7pm latest . The clubhouse will be open for good and drinks .

Swallows and Amazons 12 years ago.

Not a lot has changed … apart from the club house !

This was our initial cohort of young sailors . The pioneers of Swallows and Amazons.

Sailing is so important, it teaches children resilience, self discipline, how to problem solve , how to communicate, how to work in a team , how to read the weather , how to risk assess … the list could go on .

It is so heart warming when I look at these children in these photos and link them to what they are doing now …

One is sailing traditional wooden boats in Falmouth , another is working in super yachts , another is doing a sail making apprenticeship in Sydney , another is teaching sailing in Cornwall , another is a Watersports instructor on the Isle of Wight . A couple have done boat building courses , many have become instructors and a couple have become senior instructors . Another has taught sailing in America as part of camp America another went to America to sail a tall ship and many joined the sea cadets and have undertaken roles on sail training boats in tall ship races .

Never underestimate the impact of mud sliding and playing pirates late into the evening on Thursdays in the summer . It’s empowering. ###

We love our Thursday evenings at Swallows and Amazons . Tired happy little pirates 🏴‍☠️ by the end of the session . It’s so wonderful seeing our older pirates looking after and guiding the younger ones in the art of creek wallowing and mud splurging x

A great Swallows and Amazons session at Hunstanton RNLI station. So many wonderful volunteers providing huge experiences for our little sailors .

Lots of wonderful new pirates signed up for this seasons Swallows and Amazons .
Very excited for Thursday evenings .
A huge thank you to our wonderful boatman Charlie ho ran an awesome RLSS Rookie water safety session for the newbies.
