Blacks 5️⃣ – 4️⃣ Yellows 🟡⚫️

Dave Rogers said before the game that he thought the Blacks lacked runners and was concerned we’d be outrun.

I replied, “Little Dave, don’t stress. We’ve got all the ballers and warriors on our team.” 😃

You can work out which half of that story is true… 😂

The Blacks really did put in a shift today. The Steve Amies and Tom Walker partnership was a throwback to the days when Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips were smashing the Premier League up in the late ’90s.

Although, I can’t remember Kevin Phillips ever stealing a goal from Quinny on the goal line! 😃⚽️

The Yellows had their own warriors and never stopped plugging away. A proper competitive game from start to finish. 💪

⚽️ Goal of the Game – John McNabola

John started the move from left-back, then made the attacking run down the flank. The Blacks put together 3 or 4 sharp passes into feet before John came storming into the box to finish off a beautiful team goal. 😘

And after all that running, John deservedly picked up the MOTM Festival B**rs! 🍺🏆

Cheers all! 💪⚽️

😭😭😭 SIMON GAMBLE’S LAST EVER THURSDAY GAME… FOR NOW! ⚽️

Well, today was an emotional one as we said farewell to Si Gamble after what feels like about 147 years of Thursday morning football! 😂

As a little goodbye gesture, and thanks to the thoughtfulness of Mal, the lads sorted Simon out with a card and some chocolates today. 🍫📝

You’ll definitely be missed, Si. But let’s hope a full-blown midlife-crisis rage kicks in sometime soon and you realise where you truly belong… back with the Thursday group! 😂😂

And because it was his last game, Simon was given the honour of picking the teams.

👉 Please forward all complaints directly to Simon. 😃

On paper, the teams looked pretty even. On the pitch… well… that’s another story! 😂

At one point it was 4–2 to the Blacks, then 7–4, and eventually the Blacks disappeared into double figures and everyone just stopped counting. 🤣⚫️

⚽️ GOALS & HIGHLIGHTS

🔥 John McNabola opened the scoring around the 15-minute mark. His through ball was THAT good… unfortunately it beat his own teammate AND the defender before nestling into the corner! 😂 Absolute quality. Was it a pass or a shot? We’ll never know.

💥 Simon Gamble then smashed in a thunderous goal, which was immediately celebrated with several extremely sweaty hugs from his teammates. Lovely stuff. 😂

🏆 GOAL OF THE DAY — LIM!

A brilliant passing move was finished off by Lim, who met the ball with a superb half-volley at the near post. ⚽️🔥

👏 Andy Todd picked up the Game Credit for the Yellows.

🍺 Captain’s B**r: Simon Gamble

⭐️ MOTM: Simon Gamble chose John McNabola.

I’m going to start advertising the group for new players now. It’s been a while since we’ve had some fresh blood, so I’ll be putting some money behind online advertising and getting posters up in the local supermarkets.

If you know anyone 40+ who fancies a friendly game of football forward their details on....

Cheers everyone — and good luck Si! 🍻

You know where we are… 👀😂

Enjoyable game today! ⚽️

Just after half-time it was 7–6 to the Yellows. It was a proper back-and-forth game, with the Yellows deserving their lead at that stage.

In the final section of the game, though, the Yellows seemed to run out of steam, and Howard the Baby showed absolutely no mercy to the old legs in front of him. Punishment for old age was delivered several times! 😂

I think the game finished around 12–7, although most players seemed to mentally switch off once the Blacks hit 10! 🤣

🏆 Goal of the Day & Game Credit: Paul Hanley, who somehow managed a bicycle kick when the ball was crossed in from the right. An absolute beauty — and criminally, the video wasn't rolling!

👶 Other Game Credit: Nick Hilton, for continuing to look suspiciously youthful. Some of us are not impressed. 😂

🍫 Winning Captain & Chocs: Doug takes home the chocolates this week.

Cheers all! ⚽️👏

⚽ THURSDAY MORNING MATCH REPORT ⚽

What a game! Goals, injuries, comebacks and plenty of drama as the Yellows came out 6–4 winners against the Whites.

The Whites struck first when Chris Craske fell onto the ball, with Steve Rollason reacting quickest to tap home. 1–0 Whites.

The Yellows hit back through George, who turned his man brilliantly before firing home. 1–1.

The Whites regained the lead when Mal picked out Steve, who ran through and finished superbly. 2–1 Whites.

The Yellows levelled again after good work from Amies and Doug, with Craske finishing the move. 2–2.

Then came another Yellows goal as Simon Gamble tapped home after excellent work from Rich Ash. 3–2 Yellows.

The Whites weren't done. John finished after a great run from Howard to make it 3–3.

With the game opening up, Kev came on to replace an injured Max, and the Yellows eventually pulled away to seal a 6–4 victory.

🍺 Winning Captain & B**r: Mal
⭐ Blacks MOTM: Steve Rollason
⭐ Yellows MOTM: Shilts

Both MOTM winners pick up game credits for their performances.

A proper Thursday morning battle! 👏⚽️

Blacks 11-2 Yellows
Well... that escalated quickly.

Nigel got the demolition started with a classic striker's special – a tap in from about three inches out.

Doug then produced the goal of the game, surging forward before calmly placing one into the top corner.
To their credit, the Yellows briefly remembered football is supposed to involve scoring. Paul Hanley tucked one neatly into the corner to make it 2-1 and suddenly dreams of an upset appeared. They lasted approximately three minutes.
Steve Rollason then unleashed a volley from outside the box that said, "Enough of this nonsense." Phil replied for the Yellows to make it 3-2, but that only seemed to annoy Steve, who promptly spun his marker and buried another to restore order.
Daz Hill danced along the touchline like he was auditioning for Strictly Come Football, and finished off a brilliant solo goal. 5-2 at half-time.

The second half was less of a contest and more of a training exercise.
Nick Hilton grabbed a tap in for 6-2.
Daz Hill added another for 7-2.
Nick wasn't finished either, making it 8-2 before the tactical masterstroke of swapping Matt Pimm for Daz Hill... which changed absolutely nothing. Nick completed his hat-trick for 9-2.
Rollason then helped himself to another tap in for 10-2 before rounding off his Man of the Match performance with goal number 11. Clinical, energetic and seemingly everywhere.
A special mention has to go to Buzz for producing the moment everyone will remember. As a teammate smashed one goalwards, Buzz attempted a two-handed Maradona. In another attempt by the yellows to claw some respect back, the ball was blasted on target only for it to hit Buzz on the back, Buzz quote - I tried to make myself as skinny as possible. Unfortunately, physics had other ideas, and the ball cannoned off his back instead.

Man of the Match: 🏆 Steve Rollason – goals, work rate and a constant menace.
Yellows Credit Award: 👏 Shilts – never stopped running, even when the scoreboard begged him to.
Winning Captain - 🏅Dave Rogers
