🤯 Assessment nerves?!
🤔 Or just after a bit of extra tuition and support as you build towards assessment?

Honestly, training courses are intense and it’s amazing how much people forget things afterwards, even though those ropework demos and tips seemed so obvious at the time 😅
I’ve got a Mountain Training CPD day coming up to support RCI trainees during their consolidation period.

➰️ We’ll look at lots of rigging and ropework, and help you make efficient and safe decisions so you can be the best RCI 💪🙂

🔸️Personal feedback

🤔 Keen to get stuck into outdoor climbing more but don’t know how?

➰️ What to learn or refresh some of the fundamental safety skills for trad?

🤯 Baffled by all the terminology, and overwhelmed by all the equipment you need?!

I love running ‘Intro to Trad’ days. 😍
They’re a great way of building skills in a friendly environment, meeting other climbers, and gaining expert input on where you’re at and what to do next.

I have two more ‘Intro to Trad’ days planned this summer, both in the north lakes ⤵️

Sunday 19th July
Sunday 16th August

May roundup 👇

A mixed month of weather, with many dry days, some very cold days 🥶, and some absolutely sweltering days 🥵 ....classic UK 😅

🧗🏽‍♀️ I've done bits of trad coaching, looking at movement, tactics and headgame.

➰️ Plenty of multipitch tuition and some guided climbing days

📋 Assessing a Rock Climbing Development Instructor course

👌 Working with a great team at

🧗🏿‍♂️ Teaching sport climbing at Runestone and Tilberthwaite Quarry

🌞 And working at the wonderful Climb Academy

🌊⛰️ I also squeezed in a week to North Wales for a bit of work, but mainly as an excuse to go climbing down there 😅

The season is in full swing now, and it's nice to see other folks out working, catch up with regular clients, and enjoy living in such a beautiful place!
....come on June, let's get back to some summer weather please 🙏

Arcteryx Climb Academy - Langdale

Events like these are so much fun! 😍
Kinda intense as well - my social capacity definitely gets used up by the end 😅

❓️ The standout bits for me?

🧗🏽‍♀️ It’s really awesome having a big climbing event in the Lakes. There’s tons of trail running races etc etc, so to see Lakes rock climbing being elevated, through both grassroots engagement and pro climbers, is great 😀

🤝Working alongside skilled and inspirational instructors. Most of my work is on my own, so it’s really nice to be in a team and collaborate

🥙☕️🙏 Being supported as a staff team. Good pay and food makes a big difference, and encourages instructors to stick around in the evenings and add to the festival atmosphere. We give a lot of ourselves during these events, and it makes a big difference feeling valued and supported throughout the event.

🚌 provided a bus from London. It’s all well and good saying we want a bigger range of people to access climbing, but that practical support is the thing that makes the difference.

🌞🥵 The sunshine! Yeah we were complaining about the heat by the end, but isn’t the Lakes glorious when it’s like this?!

☂️☀️ A SUN UMBRELLA!!! That's a first for me 😅

Massive thanks to and for such a fab weekend, and for all the organising 💪🙏

I love running group courses. 😀😍
It's lots of fun, people get to meet other climbers, and they learn off each other as well as off me!
...its also a bit more cost effective than private bookings 😉

June, July and August group courses up on my website now ⤵️

Trad problem solving, Intro Trad, Outdoor Bouldering, RCI courses and refreshers. 🙂

❓️What’s my ‘typical month’ look like?
Each month is a little different, but here’s what I got up to in April ⤵️

🧗🏽‍♀️ A few days teaching learn to lead on trad
👀 Observing and giving feedback for a trainee RCDI teaching mock students
📋 Running an RCI training and RCI assessment
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A few family trad and outdoor boulder days
🪢 Problem solving and ropework skills days
⛰️ A day for Women’s Hill Skills in West Cumbria
🤸🏾‍♀️🧗🏿‍♂️ Some trad coaching, working on movement and tactics to improve trad leading

🏝 I also squeezed in a week off, and visited the Isle of Arran for the first time in glorious weather!

It’s nice to be fully stuck in to climbing work again now for the summer. Although my work is mostly climbing related, there's still so much variety and I'm never bored! This May will be similar, but I will be doing a bit more guided trad climbing, as well as an RCDI assessment and working at the Lakeland Academy in Langdale.

Spring so far has been about snatching short, quickdrying routes in between the showers....and generally wearing all the layers 😅

I managed to lead Geronimo E7 6c, a really nice wall climb tucked away at Shepherds. Good gear, but those first pieces are hard to place!
coldwellstorry climbed the very steep (and definitely undergraded) Exclamation E6 6b.

Can't wait for the weather to improve...looks like we're due some high pressure this week though! 🌞🌄

March so far….

🌞 🧗🏽‍♀️First day of trad work on Shepherds crag, it was SO nice to be in the sunshine!

📈 🧗🏿‍♂️ Lead climbing coaching for the RAF climbing team as they prepare for this years competitions.

🎤 Joining a fantastic team for this years Women’s Climbing Symposium in Bristol

🌼 Enjoying (brief) periods of sunshine and spring weather - daffodils, snowdrops, longer days and lovely light on the hills 😊

🪢Lots of fun running a two day trad problem solving course

🪨 Squeezing in a few gritstone boulder days at Slipstones and Shipley Glen

🐮 Highland Coos on our Women’s Hill Skills walk

Things are ramping up now as we move in to Spring…lots of trad tuition, guided climbs, instructor courses and group workshops to look forward to
