What a weekend for the Jarrow Hawks lads! 💙
Friday – Grassroots Mentality Tournament at Bullocksteads
The lads were absolutely amazing from start to finish. They topped their group and carried that momentum into the semi-final, where they showed their quality, ability and togetherness to reach the final.
Unfortunately, we came away as runners-up, but the football on display was outstanding. The lads played as a team, scored loads of goals, showed individual brilliance and produced some fantastic team goals.
Defensively, they were resilient and battled for everything, while Jake between the sticks was outstanding, making some brilliant saves and showing great confidence with the ball at his feet.
🏆 Player of the Tournament – Emmanuel
Emmanuel was absolutely superb. Solid and determined in defence, winning battles and making important contributions, while also showing his attacking quality with some fantastic play and great goals. A brilliant all-round performance! 👏
Sunday – Final Summer League Game
Sunday saw us play our final summer league game in the Durham League against a very good Peterlee side.
It was a physical and aggressive game, but our lads matched them all over the pitch while maintaining the utmost sportsmanship and continuing to play football the right way.
The one-two football from our lads was fantastic, with some great goals and plenty of tough battles across the pitch. They showed real character, stood strong and worked their way back into the game.
It was a fantastic game to watch between two brilliant sides. 👏⚽
⭐ Joint Players of the Week – Bede & Jake
Bede was fantastic. Fast, strong and fearless, he made numerous blocks, won countless battles and showed great confidence playing out from the back. A superb performance.
And we have to give a special mention to Jake. After just six months of playing football, he is already becoming a top, top goalkeeper.
His confidence with the ball at his feet has come on massively. His footwork, awareness and decision-making were excellent, whether playing out of trouble, using his defenders to build from the back or choosing to go long with some fantastic kicks.
And his shot-stopping was simply out of this world! 🧤🔥
We are incredibly proud of every single one of the lads — not just for this weekend, but for the whole season.
They have been a credit to Jarrow, to their families and to themselves. A fantastic group of young lads with amazing footballing ability, but more importantly, a brilliant team who continue to work hard, battle for each other and play the game with the right attitude.
Well done, lads. We couldn’t be prouder! 🦅💙⚽
