Season Finale

Some games mean more than just the result.

Saturday was one of those days.

In our final game of the season, Whitton Lions RFC put in a performance that will live long in the memory, securing a 64–7 victory — but this was about so much more than the scoreboard. Played in honour of Emz, it was a day filled with emotion, unity, and pride.

From the first whistle to the last, the boys played with heart. Every tackle, every carry, every try reflected not just the work of this season, but the spirit of the club. It was rugby played the right way — together, for each other, and for something bigger than ourselves.

This season has been a journey. One built on commitment, resilience, and belief. And none of it happens without the people behind the badge.

To our players — for the sacrifices, the passion, and the pride you show every time you wear the shirt.

To the committee — the unseen heartbeat of this club, working endlessly to keep everything going.

Today Whitton Lions RFC took to the pitch not just for the game, but in honour of a truly special young man — Enrique “Emz” Martin May ❤️🏉

Emz lived life the way rugby is meant to be played — with passion, heart, and unwavering positivity. From his early days picking up a ball at school to becoming part of the Twickenham RFC and Whitton Lions RFC family, his love for the game was clear to everyone who had the privilege of playing alongside him.

But Emz was so much more than a rugby player. A talented actor with exciting opportunities ahead, including potential roles with Netflix, and a skilled tradesman, he brought dedication and energy into everything he did. He had casting roles in Foster family and The Butler family, and his presence left a lasting impact on so many.

Today's match, Saturday 28th April, is dedicated to Emz — a celebration of his life, his love for rugby, and the incredible person he was.

After the game, we’ll be heading to , where the hospitality will be waiting. We’d love for you all to join us, share stories, raise a glass, and remember a young man who meant so much to so many.

Tough result this weekend as we couldn’t keep our run going, coming up against a very well-structured 3rd XV side. It was a great, competitive match with both teams giving everything and leaving it all out on the pitch. Thank you for the hospitality, and we hope your family fun day was a big success 👏

As we approach the end of the season, our focus now turns to our final game. We look forward to welcoming UCS to Feltham this week — a special occasion for everyone at Whitton Lions RFC.

This Saturday, we host our memorial game in honour of Emz — a truly great person and a big figure in the rugby community. As the week goes on, we’ll be sharing more as we remember and celebrate his impact 💙

🏆 Player of the Month – February 🏆

A huge congratulations to .conchie for being voted our Player of the Month for February 👏

He’s had a brilliant month, turning out regularly and putting in some serious shifts for the team. Consistently driving us forward, gaining valuable metres from attacking open play, and delivering immense performances week after week. Because of efforts like this, Whitton Lions RFC have picked up some important wins along the way. 💪🦁

A bit about our February Player of the Month:

“I joined Whitton at the start of 2023. I previously played rugby in Cardiff while I was at uni and down in Devon where I grew up. I love Whitton because there’s a great group of lads, and you can’t beat spending a Saturday rolling around in the mud followed by a few beers after.” 🍻

Match Day Report 🦁🏉

Great result for Whitton Lions RFC this weekend against a strong and physical — the lads put in a brilliant shift and came away with a well-deserved win.

Despite the challenging conditions, especially the heavy rainfall from the previous day, Whitton Lions were able to put together some incredible phases of rugby and play some fantastic attacking rugby to secure the victory.

Special mention to our Man of the Match for an outstanding performance, and unfortunately our DOTM as well , we won’t forget that one anytime soon!

A big thank you to for allowing us to use their facilities and host the game on their pitch. Your support is hugely appreciated.

After a fantastic win last weekend, Whitton Lions RFC are back in action and hitting the road for another big test taking on

Originally scheduled to face Finsbury Park RFC away, due to technical issues, the match will now be played at Northolt Rugby Club.

Can the lads keep the momentum going and make it back-to-back wins!! 💪

What a game to round off the weekend! 🏉

Saturday’s match was fast, physical and full of energy — proper grassroots rugby at its finest. It was a great spectacle for everyone watching, and we’re sure both squads are feeling the effects this Monday morning! A big thank you to 3rd XV for making the trip over. We wish you all the very best for the remainder of the season.

January Player of the Month 🏉

We’re proud to introduce our first Player of the Month for 2026!

Throughout January, this player has been outstanding — showing real commitment to the team, putting in strong performances week after week, and even picking up two Man of the Match awards along the way. His effort, attitude, and consistency have not gone unnoticed. Congratulations .21

At Whitton Lions, we know that playing grassroots rugby isn’t always easy. Everyone is balancing work, family, and busy lives, so it’s important to us that our players feel valued and appreciated for the time and dedication they give to the club. Recognition like this is our way of saying thank you for everything our players put in both on and off the pitch.

A bit about our January winner:

Based in Twickenham, just a stone’s throw from the stadium, he joined Whitton in October 2024. Having previously played at London Scottish and Teddington in his younger years, he now lines up mainly on the wing, and has recently been making an impact at fullback (15) as well.

Congratulations on a fantastic month — and thank you for your commitment to Whitton Rugby Club! 👏
