Early starts are always easier when they begin with good people, good conversation and a great breakfast.

I was out the door this morning by 6:15am for the Babergh Friends in Business networking breakfast at The Brantham Bull.

A big thank you to Paul & Gemma for a lovely breakfast and a warm welcome to start the day.

It was great to spend the morning with such a diverse range of businesses and professionals from across the area.

What really stands out about this group is how friendly, supportive and welcoming everyone is, creating a genuine opportunity to connect, share ideas and build relationships.

An early start, but absolutely worthwhile. There’s something incredibly motivating about beginning the day surrounded by positive, like-minded people before heading into the rest of the working day.

Looking forward to the next one.

This Bank Holiday weekend felt different 💛

For the first time in nearly 18 months… I actually switched off.

No rushing around, no constant to-do list in my head, no feeling like I should be doing something else.

Just time.

Time with family, sitting in the garden, listening to the birds down in the woods at the bottom of the garden.
Even a slow trip to our local vineyard for coffee and a scone.

There was lots of laughter, cooking, baking… and definitely eating far too much!

And at one point someone said to me,
“I haven’t seen you get your laptop out once like you usually would.”

And they were right.

Something just shifted this weekend. I actually allowed myself to stop.

It made me realise how rarely we do that.

We just keep going, don’t we? Even when we’re tired, even when our bodies are telling us to slow down.

This weekend reminded me how important it is to pause, even just for a little while.

No guilt. No pressure. Just being in the moment.

If you managed to switch off this weekend, I hope it felt as good as it did for me.

And if not… maybe it’s something to think about 💛

Over the last few days, I’ve been talking a lot about something simple: getting outside.

Fresh air. Space. A chance to reset and find a bit of clarity.

If there’s one thing I’d encourage this week, it’s this:

Step outside.
Even briefly.

Because supporting your well-being during menopause doesn’t have to be complicated.

It can start with something as simple as a walk in nature.

And from there, everything else can feel a little more manageable.

We need more open conversations about this, especially in the workplace.

Because when women feel better, they perform better.

And that benefits everyone.

“It’s not a solution to everything, but it’s a powerful place to start.”

Have you found simple habits that make a difference?

If you’d like more information, support, or even just a chat around menopause and simple ways to make a difference, please feel free to get in touch.

Sometimes just talking through things can make everything feel a little lighter. 🩷

There’s a lot of noise around what women should be doing during menopause.

Strict routines. Intense plans. Big changes.

Eat this. Avoid that. Do more. Try harder.

But for many, me included, that just adds more pressure, at a time when energy, focus, and motivation can already feel stretched.

And instead of helping, it can leave us feeling like we are falling short.

What if it didn’t have to start there?

What if it started with something manageable?

A 20-minute walk.

No targets. No tracking. No perfection.

Just stepping outside, getting some fresh air, and giving your mind a moment to slow down.

Because when everything feels overwhelming, simple really does matter.

And small, repeatable actions, done consistently are what actually create change.

Not perfection. Not extremes.

Just consistency.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what’s needed.

Menopause doesn’t just affect the body.

It affects focus, confidence, and how you show up day to day.

And when your mind feels constantly “busy” or overwhelmed, it’s hard to perform at your best.

Walking in nature creates something we rarely get anymore:

Space.

No notifications. No pressure. No expectations.

Just time to think, process, and reset.

And that has a bigger impact than most people realise.

I’m also really aware how lucky I am to have this on my doorstep, just a 5-minute walk and I’m by the river.

And sometimes, that simple step makes all the difference.

A great starting point for mental clarity during menopause?

Getting outside.

Maybe a walk. Maybe a walk with a friend.

Because “walk and talks” can be one of the simplest ways to open up about how you’re really feeling, with no pressure.

Just fresh air, natural light, and space.

Even a short walk can help:

Clear mental fog
Reduce stress levels
Improve mood

It sounds simple, because it is.

But simple doesn’t mean ineffective.

In fact, it’s often the small, consistent habits that have the biggest impact over time.

And when everything feels overwhelming, starting simple is sometimes the most powerful thing you can do.

That said, a walk won’t solve everything menopause can bring.

But it can be a starting point.

A moment to breathe.
A moment to think.
A moment to talk.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what’s needed.

We talk about performance at work.

Deadlines. Targets. Productivity.

But we don’t talk enough about menopause and how it quietly impacts all of those things.

Brain fog. Low energy. Poor sleep.

And yet, the expectation to “just carry on” remains.

This week, I want to share something simple that genuinely helps me.

Not complicated. Not overwhelming.

Just real, practical steps that make a difference.

Starting with something most people overlook…

Walking.

Not for steps. Not for fitness.

But for clarity. Fresh air. Nature.

Menopause and Boundaries

A conversation I’m hearing more and more from women during menopause is this:

"I’m starting to see my relationships differently."

And it’s something I’ve experienced personally as well as hearing from women I talk to.

Many women reach midlife and realise they’ve spent years being the one who:

• checks in on everyone
• organises social events
• supports friends and family
• keeps friendships going

But menopause often brings a moment of clarity.

Women begin asking themselves:

Why am I always the one reaching out?
Why do some relationships feel draining?
When did my own well-being become the last priority?

Menopause can be a powerful time to rediscover self-care, boundaries and balance in relationships.

I’ve written a new blog about this and why many women start re-evaluating relationships during menopause.

You can read it here:

Have you noticed relationships changing during menopause?

Menopause and boundaries can lead women to re-evaluate relationships, prioritise self-care and protect their emotional well-being during midlife.
