If I could go back and start the gym all over again, these are the 4 things I’d do differently.
Prioritise the basics
I spent far too much time chasing different exercises and not enough time getting stronger.
A stronger squat, bench and row would’ve taken me a lot further than constantly changing things up.
Learn how to actually control a weight
Looking back, I wasn’t really training the muscle.
I was just moving the weight from A to B.
I wish I’d spent more time slowing things down and actually learning how to train.
Sort my nutrition out
One protein shake after training isn’t gonna build muscle.
For years I trained hard but put very little thought into what I was eating outside the gym.
A few staple meals and a basic understanding of calories and protein would’ve made a massive difference.
Get a coach
Not because I couldn’t figure it out myself.
But because it would’ve saved me so much time.
A lot of the mistakes I made could’ve been avoided if I’d had someone to guide me in the right direction from the start.
Hopefully that saves someone a few years of making the same mistakes I did 👊🏽🦹🏽♂️
