IMMINGHAM PILGRIMS LADIES; PRE SEASON FRIENDLY

What a way to finish our pre-season!👏🔥

The girls put in another fantastic performance today against Epworth Girls, coming away with a 4-2 victory in our final friendly before the league gets underway! 🙌

FIRST HALF
🟡 Izzy hit the post early on as we started brightly.
🟡 1-0 Lily P with the assist and Ava W with a great finish!
🟡 Epworth responded quickly to make it 1-1.

⏱️ HALF TIME 1-1

SECOND HALF
🟡 2-1 Florence with an unbelievable finish from the halfway line, lobbing the keeper!😱🎯
🟡 3-1 Lillie C with a fantastic assist from the back, finding Ava P who finished brilliantly.👏
🟡 4-1 Florence did it AGAIN!🤯 Another sensational lob from the halfway line to complete her brace!
🟡 A moment of lost concentration allowed Epworth to pull one back, making it 4-2.

The result was fantastic, but even better was the football the girls played. All 10 girls moved the ball so fluently, creating chance after chance and showing some brilliant teamwork, movement and determination.💛⚽️

🏆POTM; FLORENCE🏆

What a performance from Florence today! Solid at the back, winning the majority of her duels, brilliant footwork and of course, TWO unbelievable finishes from the halfway line, lobbing the keeper not once, but TWICE!👏

A thoroughly deserved Player of the Match!💪⭐️

A huge THANK YOU to all the spectators who came along today. It was a fantastic turnout for both teams and the support really does mean so much to the girls!👏

That brings our friendlies to an end, and what a pre season it has been, UNBEATEN SO FAR!🔥💛

Now it’s time to get serious… the league starts this weekend!👊⚽️

Lillie C - Lillie has been fantastic this week and thoroughly deserves Trainer of the Week! She showed a brilliant work rate throughout the session, always working hard and getting involved. Her passing was excellent, with good accuracy and awareness, and she also worked really hard defensively, making some great tackles.

What a fantastic start for our brand new girls team!⚽💛

Today saw our very first friendly match, and what a game it was – coming away with an incredible 4-3 victory!

The girls showed great character throughout. We took an early 1-0 lead, were pegged back to 1-1, then went 2-1 ahead before falling behind 3-2 after our opponents scored twice. With a few changes and plenty of determination, the girls dug deep and turned it around to secure a brilliant 4-3 win.

Goal scorers:
⚽ Ava W – 1
⚽ Izzy – 2
⚽ Ava P – 1

Every single player was outstanding, working hard for each other and already showing what a great team spirit we have. There is so much to be excited about for the future.

A special mention goes to Piper, who was deservedly named Player of the Match after a fantastic all-round performance.👏🏆 Also a big thank you to Footyfits for kindly supplying the Player of the Match trophies for the girls.

Unfortunately, the game was overshadowed by an injury to Daisy, who had to go to A&E after around 15 minutes following a tackle and has sadly suffered a fractured elbow. We wish Daisy a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back in action in around six weeks.💛

Ava P also picked up a wrist injury but is bravely soldiering on ahead of her holiday, we hope that settles down quickly too.💛

Finally, a massive thank you to Immingham Town Council for sponsoring our beautiful new home kit – the girls looked fantastic wearing it today.👕⚽

Well done girls – an amazing first game, a brilliant team performance, and this is only the beginning!💛⚽
