On Sunday 6th September we hosted the Hunts County Youth League Finals. The ground looked great in the warm weather and the cricket was very compelling despite Upwwood not been represented. With our two pitches we can accomadate all age groups done on one day and this is appreciated by Cricket East. Very big thank you for Groundmans John Dale for all his work preparing the putches and setting up and packing away on the day. Also ahout out to the bar and front of house support provided by Catherine Tuffin, Rosie Tuffin and Jamie Taylor. With out our volunteers these and other events would simple not happen.

It’s time to celebrate an incredible season together! 🎉
Bring the whole family along as we celebrate all of our players, teams, coaches, volunteers and everyone who makes this club so special. 💛

🏏 WOMEN’S RESULTS 🏏

A brilliant way to round off the women’s first season, with plenty of improvements, individual achievements and some fantastic team performances! 👏

Sunday 23rd v Godmanchester Town CC
The women continued to show just how much their fielding is improving, with everyone backing each other up and keeping things super tight in the field. 🙌
With the bat, Upwood finished on 245, with Antonia top scoring with 8 and Dibs with 7.
The bowling was impressive, with Megan taking 1/11 and Isabella Hickman picking up 1/23. 👏
A big thank you to Godmanchester Town CC for hosting us and for another great game! 💛

Tuesday 25th vs Newborough CC
For their final game of the season, Upwood travelled to Newborough and put on a superb batting display! 🏏🔥
There were plenty of boundaries and lots of quick singles, with several players achieving their highest scores of the season. A special mention to Tam, who hit her first ever six! 💥
Tillie top scored with 16, while Tam finished with 13.
And the brilliant bowling continued! Vic took an impressive 3/14, with Isabella Hickman taking a fantastic 1/2. There were also wickets for Lexi McDonnell and Rosie Tuffin. 🎯
Some more fantastic fielding helped stop boundaries and keep the pressure on, with Newborough restricted to 262/8.

🏆 A superb way to end the women’s first season with a win!🏆

So many brilliant individual achievements, plenty of progress and, most importantly, a fantastic team spirit throughout the season with lots of laughs and fun!

Another brilliant weekend of cricket at Upwood, with two fantastic performances earning our POTM awards! 👏🔥

⭐ Saturday 1st XI – Adam “Deano” Dean
What a bowling performance! 🎯 Deano finished with an impressive 4/32 from his 10 overs, playing a huge part in helping the 1st XI secure the win and bowl Cambridge NCI out. 💪🏏

⭐ Sunday XI – Tom Harris
Tom is on an incredible run! 🔥 After scoring his first senior 50 last week, he followed it up this week with his first senior 100! 💯👏
An incredible achievement for the youngster and a milestone we’re sure he’ll never forget. What a way to back up last week’s performance! 🙌

🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS | TWO SUPERB WINS! 🏏

What a weekend for Upwood CC! Two brilliant wins, with some outstanding individual performances across both Saturday and Sunday. 👏🔥

Saturday 1st XI vs Cambridge NCI CC
Upwood won the toss and elected to bat.
Mitch Newman continued his excellent form, opening alongside Craig Leigh and helping build a superb 73-run partnership. Mitch went on to score an excellent 78, including 9 fours and a six. 👏

Further valuable contributions came from Charlie Nelson (33) and Oli Parncutt (31) as Upwood finished on 228/8.

With the ball, Upwood made the perfect start as Mike Piaggesi and Charlie Nelson reduced Cambridge NCI to 6/2.
The wickets continued to fall, with Deano taking an outstanding 4 wickets, Charlie and Mike picking up 2 each, and Evan Nichols and Vamshi Parvathaneni taking one apiece.
Cambridge NCI were bowled out for 166. 💪

Sunday 1st XI vs Uffington CC
Another day, another brilliant batting display!🏏
After scoring his first senior 50 last week, Tom Harris followed it up in style with his first senior century! 💯🔥
Tom smashed a superb 110, alongside skipper Jack Marsh, who produced another top-class performance with 112.
The pair helped Upwood to an impressive 285/3.

And the Upwood side backed up the brilliant batting performance with an outstanding display with the ball too! 👏
Liam Burgoine produced an incredible spell, finishing with superb figures of 3/6 and Oliver Burton brilliant 2/0! There were also two wickets for Charlie Milner, while Evan Nichols, George Harris and Eli Piaggesi each picked up a wicket.

🏆 TWO WINS. TWO OUTSTANDING TEAM PERFORMANCES.

A weekend full of brilliant cricket and fantastic achievements. 👏

Are you ready for the annual Upwood 6’s Day Tournament? 👀

📅 Bank Holiday Monday – 31st August
⏰ Arrival from 9:00am | 10:00am start
🏏 6-a-side format
💷 £10 per player – including a hotdog or burger from the BBQ 🌭🍔

Teams will battle it out in a round-robin format, with the top teams progressing to the semi-finals and finals to finish the day in style! 🏆

Expect a day packed with cricket, competition, plenty of fun and a great atmosphere! 🍻☀️

Everyone should be incredibly proud of themselves, especially with the impeccable fielding on show in this game! 👏🔥
Really kept the opposition on their toes!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough to get the win, but there were lots of positives to take, including some fantastic wickets — brilliant to see! 😊
