A heartbreakingly close one for Upwood Women this weekend, falling just 3 runs short in a fantastic contest.

There were some brilliant performances from the team💪🏼
With the ball Antonia took 3/21 and Vic 1/13
With the bat Vic top-scored with 32 runs followed by Antonia with 17

A huge effort from everyone involved, with plenty of positives to take from such a competitive game👊🏼

Thank you to our hosts Castor and Ailsworth CC for their hospitality and a great match. 🤝

A mixed weekend for the club, with plenty of standout individual performances across all three sides👏🏼

🏡1st XI vs Kimbolton CC (H)
Upwood fielded first and got off to a great start thanks to Angus Pate, who took 4 early wickets. Zak Stevens picked up 2 wickets, while Jared Sharp added another as Kimbolton posted 298/8. Despite the best efforts of the batting line-up, Upwood was unable to chase the target, finishing on 104 all out.

🚌2nd XI vs Bottisham & Lode CC (A)
A memorable day for Cav King, who produced a superb spell including a hat-trick – all three wickets bowled! 🔥 Eli Piaggesi also got on the scoresheet with a wicket. With the bat, Pete Kolakowski scored an excellent 54, while Cav capped off his all-round performance with a quickfire 29.

🚌Sunday XI vs Ketton Sports CC (A)
A real team effort with the ball as Jack, Declan, Jacob, Holly, Charlie and Jason all picked up a wicket each. Ketton finished on 260/7. Upwood fought hard in the chase, with Jacob Milner producing a superb 71 and Jack Marsh adding 49, but the side fell short on 192.

👏 Plenty of positives to take into next weekend. Well played to everyone who represented the club!

🌦️ What looked like a complete washout weekend somehow managed to produce some cricket! 🏏

The 1st XI travelled to Godmanchester and were bowled out for 78. Despite some excellent efforts with the ball from Zak and Mike, and the team picking up 4 wickets during the chase, Upwood came up short on the day.

The 2nd XI agreed to a reduced 30-over game and posted 148/6 thanks to strong batting performances from James Milner and Evan Nichols. Unfortunately, Kimbolton chased the target down in 24.2 overs, with Jon Dale and Tom Harris picking up a wicket apiece.

🏏 Upwood Big Bash 2026 – What a Day! 🏏

It was fantastic to see so many women playing at the UCG ground, with supporters lining the boundary and cheering them on throughout the day👏🏼

There was great cricket on display, along with plenty of smiles, laughter and fun😆

The day finished in a closely contested final between Castor & Ailsworth and Orton Park, with Orton Park CC emerging victorious to lift the trophy and become the Upwood Big Bash Champions 2026! 🏆

A huge thank you to all the clubs that attended and helped make the day such a success:






Special thanks also go to all the UCC members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, on the bar, at the BBQ and on the ground. Your efforts made this historic first-ever Upwood Big Bash possible.
