https://airtable.com/appzN2GySIbwilk94/pagXA8xdiMCsvXLQT/form The Somerset 525 Indoor Rowing Championship will be taking place virtually over three consecutive days from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th April 2026, hosted by Avon Corinthians Rowing Club. Same winning format as before, competitors, rowing from home, with access to a Concept2 rowing machine (model C, D or E) club, or gym, will have the opportunity to enter one, two or three of following individual and team races:
5K (individual and team option)
2K (individual and team option)
500m sprint (individual only)
500m (juniors only)
Age categories are:
Open Ladies and Men (18-39)
Ladies and Men’s Vets (40-49)
Ladies and Men’s Supers (50 plus)
Masters (60 plus)
Juniors ages 12-17
Para / Adaptive : PR1 / AR1, PR2 / AR2, PR3 (PD) / AR3-PD
There are individual and team races (ladies, men and mixed) for both the 2K and the 5K plus there will be an overall trophy for the fastest lady and man from all competitors who compete in all three races. Teams will be made up of four rowers, from any age category. Mixed teams are allowed but must consist of two men and two women, though we will allow three women and one man. There will be a trophy for Men’s, Ladies and Mixed Teams. Individual entry will automatically allow you to join up with other members from the same club to create your team, for no extra charge. Your club can enter as many teams as you like. Each club team will be ranked starting with the fastest four being team A, and so on. There are no weight categories.
• The races will be a straight fastest to the finish.
• The 5K race will take place on Friday 10th, the 2K race on the Saturday and finally the
500m sprint race will be held on Sunday 12th April 2026.
• Teams will be made up of the four fastest rowers from each club for the 2K and 5K races
only.
• Entries will be submitted using the unique link you will be sent with your registration, in
the form of a Concept2 screen shot. There is a trust element involved here so please play
fair, and the judge’s decision is final.
• Entries will need to be submitted by 8pm GMT on the day of that race (by 6pm on Sunday
12th for the 500m sprint race). This gives competitors the freedom to complete the race(s)
at any point during that day.
• Results will be revealed on Sunday12th April at 8pm GMT on Facebook Live. Entry fees
* Each race entry fee £7.50, Juniors £5.
* Early bird discount of 3 races for £15, cut off March 1st 2026.
* There will be no extra cost for team entry.
* Final entries by Wednesday 8th April. ENTRIES WILL OPEN ON JANUARY 1st 2026. TIME TBD
FAQs
• You will need access to a Concept2 Model C, D, or E rowing machine with at least a PM3
monitor. This can be at a gym a club or at home. No other makes of rower will qualify I’m
afraid.
• You will be competing at your own risk and you will need to be sufficiently fit and
experienced in using a Concept2 rowing machine, to allow for safe participation in the
Somerset 525.
• Please ensure that your monitor is showing the correct date for the screen shot to qualify. Pictures must clearly show the distance covered and the time taken.
• Late result entries will not be counted (we need to have a cut off). Cut off times are 8pm
GMT on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday is 6pm for the 500m sprint race. NOTE THIS IS
GMT.
• You can have as many goes as you like at the distance on that day, though only one
submission.
• The entry fees are non-refundable (payment links will be sent after registration)
• After registration, you will receive a race number and a payment link. Entry is
not complete until payment has been cleared. Submitting results
Results will be submitted using the unique link that will be sent with your registration. You will need proof of your time in the form of a Concept2 PM monitor screen shot. Do not try and send your screen shot submissions via Facebook or Messenger. The link you are sent will filter the results automatically into order. A human will verify the screen shot accordingly. To recover the final results from your C2, on your PM5 monitor from the home screen press Memory >List by Date, then identify the your row from the list, use the magnifying glass icon to get the details. On a PM3 and PM4, results are via More Options >Memory then By Date > magnifying icon to choose appropriately. There is a trust element involved here so please play fair, and the judge’s decision is final. You do not need to live in Somerset, you can live anywhere, literally. Good Luck!
