There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that nobody sees, and probably even more that nobody wants to see 😂

When you’re trying to keep a club going, it’s easy to notice the big things and forget about all the little jobs that happen quietly in the background.

But every single one of them matters.

Whether you're playing, coaching, scoring, umpiring, pulling pints, making tea, cleaning, organising, fixing, decorating, emptying bins, doing tip runs, sorting the garden, running events, looking after the socials, keeping the cellar stocked, preparing the ground, sponsoring the club or simply supporting someone who is…
The club genuinely wouldn’t run without you.

So to everyone who gives their time, effort, money, patience or questionable toilet-unblocking skills to Rastrick Cricket Club…

Huge congratulations to our 3rd XI who have just won the Halifax Sunday League Dvision 3 title.

With an intoxicating blend of youth and experience, this fine group of athletes have swept all before them and royally entertained their huge following.

They are now busy celebrating and telling each other how great they are.

Well done Gentlemen, we are all very proud of you although possibly not as proud as you are of yourselves.

🏏 Every club needs a Lamby 🏏

A massive shout-out to the man who works tirelessly behind the scenes to make our ground look as good as it does…

Our groundsman Lamby!

We all notice when the outfield is looking immaculate and the wicket is beautifully prepared for a game.

What we don't always notice is the work that goes into making it happen.

Throughout the season, he has prepared 96 WICKETS!

And when he's not preparing a wicket, he's mowing, rolling, watering, repairing, marking out, maintaining… basically doing whatever needs doing!

Most days he's faffing with his grass for 3 hours, usually 7 days a week, using pretty much every spare minute he has to look after our ground.

While the rest of us are enjoying the cricket, he's probably already thinking about the next match!

A beautiful cricket ground doesn't just happen, and ours certainly wouldn't look the way it does without his hard work, pride, and dedication.

Our splendid Monthly Quiz takes place this coming Friday 4 September, starting at 8:30pm.

It will be the usual rubbish, with obscure music rounds, tedious 1970s cultural references, inappropriate humour, terrible company and crap prizes.

And that's why we only charge £1 per adult to enter and let anyone in.

It should be amazing and everyone is very welcome to come along.

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of hosting the wonderful children from Space - Creative Connections at Rastrick Cricket Club - and what a lovely bunch they are! ❤️

They really are a credit to their grown-ups, and we’ve loved having them at the club, making memories and keeping us very busy!

✨️Day 1 - involved blackberry picking, a treasure hunt, a good old-fashioned cricket tea, and, of course, the obligatory climb to the top of Round Hill! 🫐🔎🍰⛰️

Then came

✨️Day 2, and they certainly didn’t slow down!

We’ve played cricket and team-building games, watched movies while getting creative with arts and crafts, battled it out over Lego and Jigsaws - and naturally, there was time for another climb to the top of the hill! 🏏🎨🧩🧱⛰️

These are just some of the activities that have kept us busy over the last couple of days, and it’s been an absolute pleasure having them with us 💛

A huge thank you to Space - Creative Connections for letting us be part of their adventures. We hope you’ve had as much fun as we have! 🌎

And after two very busy days… we think the grown-ups might need a rest too! 😂

A nice picture of the losing finalists in the 2026 Sykes Cup. A great campaign but Hoylandswaine had a bit too much for us.

We were never really in it to be honest but everyone can be very proud of what we’ve achieved this season.

We hope that we don’t have to wait 75 years for our next Sykes Cup Final and wish all the best to Hoylandswaine.

Another great achievement for the Club today in our first appearance in the Vitality Club T20.

This is a National T20 Club competition, which we qualified for after lifting the Huddersfield Premier League T20 Trophy a few weeks ago.

In the area finals held today at Wollaton CC in Nottingham, we narrowly beat Cleethorpes and then got over the line against Wollaton in another nerve shredding finale!

This puts us through to the last 8 of all ECB Premier League Clubs and we will travel to Derby at the end of the month to see what else we can do!

It is a superb effort to be competing at this level and we are very proud of our players and supporters, who have enjoyed a memorable day.

Next up is the Sykes Cup Final on Sunday 16 August at Honley (12:00 start) when we take on Hoylandswaine.

Our monthly Quiz Night is taking place Friday 7 August and we have a massive jackpot question fund of £140 that a lucky team could be taking home!

All welcome to come along and it's just £1 per adult to enter.

Even if your Team doesn't get drawn out for a chance of the big Jackpot prize, you can still win the actual quiz and become legends. You'll just be going home with less money.

Hope to see plenty there as usual - 8:30pm start.

Let’s hear it for the girls! We held our first girls game last night as we took outlane_cc in a friendly. For some it was their first experience of playing cricket…but it didn’t show.

Some good running, fielding and bowling from both teams. Great to see and more to come from our growing girls section.

Well done all and thanks for everyone’s support.
