Barrhead Fereneze CC Play all their matches at Greenacres Curling Rink Howwood Renfrewshire. In the 2014-2015 Season we have 20 members of which 14 are playing members.

There are two leagues that continue throughout the season,

The Wednesday League (The Rodger Shield) which is played on selected Wednesdays at 10:00 AM ice. Teams are drawn from the hat before each game. Winner of the Rodger shield being the player with most points after all games are played. The Saturday League (The Heron Cup) which is played on selected Saturday afternoons at 3:00PM ice. The winner of the Heron Cup is the team member with most points after all games are played. Bonspiel Competitions and Cup games. Numerous Bonspiel competitions for cups and trophies are played throughout the season on selected Saturday Afternoons at 3:00PM ice. These include the Boyd Cup which is an annual game between Barrhead Fereneze CC and The High Kirk CC (Paisley) and The Jack Barr Memorial Salver, the annual game between Barrhead Fereneze CC and Neilston CC. The Wednesday League suits the curler who is free to do as they please during the weekday, whereas the Saturday League and Bonspiel competitions suit the curler who wishes to enjoy their curling games on a Saturday afternoon.

The Baird Cup Pairs Competition was played at Greenacres Ice Rink on Saturday 14th March 2026.
The First two pairs on start were Gordon Hamilton (Skip) and Jim Heneaghan against Robert Humphrey (Skip) and Gordon Johnston.

Gordon H. and Jim won the first end by 2 shots with Robert and Gordon J. Coming back with 1 shot win in the 2nd end and a 2 shot win in the 3rd end, so going into the 4th and last end all Robert and Gordon J. had to do was hold onto their 1 shot lead but with Gordon and Jim having last shot could they achieve that?
Robert and Gordon J. played well in the 4th and last end siting with 2 shots counting going into last skips stones, Robert tried to guard their 2 shots but the stone drew into the front of the head and not guarding, Gordon H.'s brilliant last shot made it through the gap at the front of the head and took out Robert and Gordon J's two stones and ended up with a 2 shot win t give a final score of 4 shots to 3 for Gordon Hamilton and Jim Heneaghan.

The second two pairs took to the ice Ian Farquhar (Skip) and Robert McKenzie winning the first end with a 1 shot win over Iain Glover (Skip) and Irene Glover, extending their lead with a 2 shot win in the second end. Iain and Irene came back in the 3rd end with a 2 shot win and a 1 shot win in the 4th and final end to give a final score of 3 shots to each Rink. The winning rink is decided by which pair has the higher score so with a 1 shot win by Gordon Hamilton and Jim Heneaghan over a peeled game by Iain and Irene Glover, Gordon H and Jim win the Baird Cup.

The McPhail Pail Bonspiel Competition was played at Greenacres Ice Rink on Saturday 7th March 2026.Rinks were drawn before the match as follows:-
Rink 1 Gordon Hamilton (Skip) Ian Farquhar (3rd) Robert McKenzie (2nd) and Jane Rodger (Lead)
Rink 2 Iain Glover (Skip) Robert Humphrey (3rd) Gordon Johnston (2nd) and Irene Glover (Lead).
Rink 2 Iain's Rink won end 1 by 1 shot. Gordon's Rink 1 came back in the 2nd end to win by 2 shots and 1 shot in the 3rd end with Iain's Rink scoring 2 shots to make the scores even at 3 shots each at the halfway stage of the game.
Iain's ring started the 2nd half of the match with a 3 shot win in the 5th end with Gordon's Rink winning the 6th and 7th ends by 2 shots and 3 shots respectively giving a score of 8 shots to 6 going into the 8th and final end.
Iain's Rink played with determination in the final end and with two great skip's stones Iain won the final end with a score of 3 shots giving Iain's rink the McPhail Pail by 9 shots to 8.

The Centenary Cup Bonspiel was played at Greenacres Ice Rink on Saturday 28th Feb 2026.
Iain Glover's Rink of Ian Farquhar, Irene Glover and Jane Rodger got off to a good start by winning ends one and two by 2 shots in each end. Gordon Hamilton's Rink of Robert McKenzie, Robert Humphrey and Gordon Johnston came right back by scoring 1 shot in end three, 2 shots in end four and 2 shots in end five, giving a score of 5 shots to 4 for Gordon's Rink after end five. Gordon's rink came back with 3 shots in end 6 followed by Gordon's Rink scoring 2 shots in end 7 to give a score of 7 shots each going into the last end. In the last end Gordon's rink were sitting shot until Ian Farquhars second stone promoted one of his rinks stones to sit shot well hidden behind a number of guards. No matter what Gordon's Rink tried they could not dislodge Ian's stone giving Iain Glover's Rink the Centenary Cup by 1 shot. Well played Iain Glover's Rink.

The fifth match in the Saturday League Heron Cup was played on Saturday 21st February at Greenacres Ice Rink.
Gordon Hamilton's rink of Iain Glover, Neil McClune and Alison Wilson (sub) got off to a good start by scoring 1 shot in the first end, but Robert McKenzie's rink of Ian Farquhar,Gordon Johnston and Irene Glover came back by scoring 1 shot in the second end. Gordon's rink responded with 4 shots in the third end and Robert's team came back with 3 shots in the fourth end to give a score of 5-4 to Gordon's rink after four ends. Gordon's rink then scored 3 shots in the fifth and sixth ends and Robert's rink came back with a 1 in the seventh end and a 2 in the eighth end but it wasn't enough to overtake Gordon's rink. Final score was 11-7 to Gordon's rink.

The Annual Sproul Cup Bonspiel was played at Greenacres Icerink on St. Valentines day Saturday 14th February 2026 at 15:00Hrs.
Rink 1 was skipped by Gordon Hamilton with Ian Farquhar, Irene Glover and Gordon Johnston.
Rink 2 was skipped by Robert Humphrey with Robert McKenzie, Iain Glover and Jane Rodger.
Gordon Hamilton’s Rink 1 opened the scoring with a four shot win in end 1, a two shot win in end 2 and 1 shot wins in ends 3 and 4. Giving a halfway score of 8-0 to Gordon's Rink
Finally in end 5 Robert Humphrey's Rink 2 got on the scorecard with a two shot win followed by a one shot win in end 6.
Gordon’s Rink came back with a two shot win in end 7 giving a final winning score to Gordon's Rink of 10 shots to 3 at the close of end 7 as the time bell sounded before end 8 could be started.
Congratulations to Gordon's Rink 1 on a resounding win.

The annual Jack Barr Memorial Salver Bonspiel between Barrhead Fereneze CC and Neilston CC was played at Greenacres Ice Rink on Saturday 24th January 2026.
Both Clubs fielded two teams Rink A Neilston CC was skipped by Gordon Hamilton with Rink Members of Ian Farquhar, Iain Glover and Jim Heneaghan, against Neilston Rink A Skipped by James Carswell with a Rink Members of Ewan Cameron, Liz King and Andrina Hammond.
Barrhead Fereneze CC Rink B was skipped by Robert Humphrey with Rink Members of Robert McKenzie, Neil McClune and Gordon Johnston, against Neilston CC Rink B skipped by Andy Robinson with Rink Members Colin Melrose, Margaret Semple and Georgie Travers.
Both Neilston CC Rinks A and B got off to a good start by winning the first two ends by two shots with Barrhead Fereneze Rink A having to wait until the fourth end before getting on the scorecard and Barrhead Fereneze Rink B scoring 1 shot in the third and forth ends giving scores after four ends of Barrhead Fereneze Rink A 2 shots against Neilston Rink A with 6 shots, and Barrhead Fereneze Rink B 2 shots against Neilston Rink B 3 Shots.

In The last 4 ends Neilston A Rink scored a 1 shot win in the fith end and a 2 shot win in the sixth end, with Barrhead Fereneze making a bit of a comeback by scoring 2 shots in the 7th end and one shot in the eighth end. Barrhead Fereneze Rink B however were unable to score a winning end in the last ends with Neilston scoreing three, two and another three shots in the fifth, sixth and seventh ends. With the bell going before the seventh end was completed the game ended on completion of the seventh end.

Final Scores for Rinks A was 9-5 to Neilston and Rinks B 11-2 also to Neilston giving a total score of 20 shots to 7 for Neilston.

After the match, both club's players and suporters gathered in the clubhouse and enjoyed an exellent meal prepared and served by the kitchen staff of Greenacres Ice Rink.

The fourth match in the Saturday League Heron Cup was played on Saturday 10th January at Greenacres Ice Rink.
Gordon Hamilton's rink of Iain Glover, Irene Glover and Jim Heneaghan got off to a good start by scoring 1 shot in the first end, but Robert McKenzie's rink of Ian Farquhar, Jane Rodger and Gordon Johnston came back by scoring 2 shots in the second end. This did not continue as Gordon's rink scored 3 shots in the third end and 1 in the fourth end to give a score of 5-2 to Gordon's rink after four ends. Robert's rink came back with 1 in the fifth end but Gordon's rink scored 3 in the sixth end and 1 in the seventh end. Robert's rink scored 1 in the last end to give a final score of 9-4 to Gordon's rink.

The annual Meg Memorial Bonspiel was played at Greenacres Ice Rink on Saturday 20th December 2025.
Both Rinks were looking resplendant in their Santa jumpers and hats.
Gordon Hamilton's Rink of Iain Glover, Neil McClune and Gordon Johnston opened the scoring for the first end by 2 shots with Robert McKenzie's Rink of Robert Humphrey, Jane Rodger and Irene Glover coming back with a 1 shot win in the second end. Gordon's Rink also having a 1 shot win in the third end, with Robert's Rink again coming back in the fourth end with a win of 2 shots to level the scores at 3 shots each at the halfway stage of the game.
In the final four ends Godon's rink scored a 1 shot win in the fith end and a 3 shot win in the sixth end. Robert's rink came back with a 1 shot win in the 7th end, however although the bell had not rung the greenacres clock showed we had been playing for two hours and with tummies rumbling with the thought of the post match Christmas dinner both teams shook hands and agreed the final score of 7 shots to 4 for Gordon Hamilton's Rink, thus winning the Meg Memorial trophy.
The Christmas dinner was served by the Greenacres bar staff in the club house, Dinner was followed by tea/coffee and treats supplied by Sandra Hamilton and was taken to the sounds of Old Grammarian CC singing their own versions of well known Christmas carols and other songs with a curling theme.

The third match in the Saturday League Heron Cup was played on Saturday 6th December at Greenacres Ice Rink.
Gordon Hamilton's rink of Ian Farquhar, Neil McClune and Gordon Johnston, got off to a good start by scoring 1 shot in the first and second ends, but Robert McKenzie's rink of Jane Rodger, Iain Glover and Jim Heneaghan came back by scoring 3 shots in the third end. This did not continue as Gordon's rink scored 3 shots in the fourth, 1 shot in the fifth, 2 shots in the sixth and 1 shot in the seventh end. Robert's rink made a late comeback, scoring 2 shots in the eighth end to give a final score of 9-5 to Gordon's rink.

Gordon Hamilton's Rink of Robert McKenzie, Irene Glover and Sub Robert Humphrey got off to a good start by winning the first end by 4 shots, also winning end 2 by 2 shots, end 3 and 4 by 1 shot each and again winning end 5 by 4 shots, Iain Glover's Rink of Ian Farquhar, Gordon Johnston and Jane Roger made a comeback by winning the 6th and 7th ends by 2 shots and 3 shots, with Gordon's Rink winning the 8th end by 4 shots giving a final score of 16 shots to 5 for Gordon's Rink

The Boyd Cup which is the annual match between Barrhead Fereneze Curling Club and The old High Kirk Paisley was played today 25th October 2025 at Greenacres Ice Rink. The High Kirk Rink was skipped by Gordon Hamilton with team members Ian Farquhar, Iain Glover and Gordon Johnston. The BFCC Rink was skipped by Robert Humphrey with team members Robert McKenzie, Irene Glover and Jane Rodger.
The BFCC team got off to a good start by winning the first end by 1 shot, followed by the second end also with a 1 shot win. Success kept on coming with a 2 shot win in the third end, a 4 shot win in the fourth end and a 2 shot win in the fifth end.
High Kirk Rink came back with a 1 shot win in the sixth end however BFCC on scoring a 5 shot win in the seventh end the High Kirk Rink shook hands with a final score of 15-1 to BFCC retaining the Boyd Cup for another year. The picture below shows the winning BFCC Rink with the Boyd Cup.
