Gatka is the name of an Indian martial art associated with the Sikhs history in India and an integral part of Sikh Shastar Vidiya. It is a style of stick fighting between two or more practitioners, with wooden sticks (called soti) intended to simulate swords. The intrinsic need for self-preservation was the genesis of martial art. Throughout the ages, due to being invaded and faced with evolving c

onflicts imposed new dynamics for combat in the greater Punjab. The Punjabi people learned and developed battle skills as a direct result of an appreciation of their ever-changing circumstances and how to prioritize and use common resources in combative situations. Gatka itself is a complete martial arts system which uses spiritual, mental and physical skills in equal portions to help the student be fully competent in defending themselves and others. The entire martial art is based on the correct use and discipline of a vast array of hand-to-hand weapons. The techniques involved are extremely effective for self-defense and attack as well as visually spectacular. It is practiced in a way that it proves useful at any time and is taught in a way that it is useful for all walks and duties of life.

With immediate effect, following the steep rise of Covid-19 cases over the last few weeks, Gatka classes have been cancelled until further notice. We have taken the decision to protect both you and our .
Please ensure that you get your vaccine as well as your booster jab.
