London Nigerian Rugby Football Club was formed by a group of Nigerians living in London in 1991. The club started competing in league rugby in 1992 and was a true phenomenon, securing eight league promotions in its first 10 years, claiming many big scalps along the way. The second half of its story has been more challenging, but nevertheless the club and its alumni – which includes players from a

diverse list of countries including Japan and New Zealand, as well as the British Isles – has big plans to get back to the glory days. Over the past two decades, the club has played some dazzling rugby, entertained its fans and occasionally had to fight for its survival. But ultimately it has become a home away from home for many sport-loving Nigerians in the diaspora. The Club’s identity is of never failing to play hard, fast and attacking rugby with complete commitment, fiery passion and an insatiable desire to win. The club has also organised rugby clinics in Nigeria for players and coaches; the most recent being in 2009 when then head coach Roger Coombs, a former handler of the England U-23 side, organized clinics in Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt. The Club is immensely proud of its unique heritage, impressive past achievements and special identity.
