A NEW skate park in Southwater was officially opened in 2007. Horsham District Council community development manager Trevor Beadle was on hand to cut the ribbon and unveil the park, joined by parish councillors. Situated in the Country Park, just off Stalkers Lane, the park cost just over 40,000, and is part of a wider scheme to provide more activities for young people in the area.

Littering is damaging to the environment, can cause problems for wildlife and the bins are right next to the benches at the skatepark at Ben's Field, so no need to go far.

Let's keep the area clean and tidy, so the skatepark can be used by everyone.

Wooden Skatepark Safety in Wet Conditions! 🌧️🛹

Skating on wet days can be tricky, especially on wooden skateparks! Stay safe with these tips before you shred:

Check for Slippery Spots: Wet wood is super slippery! Walk around first to see if surfaces are too slippery for using the park safely! Wet ramps can cause dangerous falls.

Dry Your Gear: Wipe off your equipment to make it as dry as possible.

Wear Proper Shoes: Choose shoes with excellent grip to help keep you stable, even on damp surfaces.

Take It Slow: Avoid complex tricks and high-speed runs on wet wood. Stick to smoother, slower moves to reduce the risk of slipping.

Avoid Puddles: Skating through puddles can ruin your equipment's bearings and increase the chance of slipping. Keep an eye out for standing water.

Wait if Necessary: If the surface is too wet and dangerous, it might be best to wait for it to dry up. The park isn't going anywhere. 😉 Safety always comes first!

Stay cautious and enjoy the ride! 🛹🌧️
