I often include calisthenics exercises in my clients training as they are great for strength and mobility. They also enjoy the challenge of progressing them session to session. Claire and Norman are both smashing their progressions and have both agreed how much better both their strength and mobility is since incorporating these exercises into their training.

Client Progress.
Jane saw me doing pull ups a few months ago and said she would never be able to do them. Working with negatives and bands she got her first pull up before Christmas and now is well on her way to two in a row.

Time for you.

The school holidays are over and for those of you who have had to put everything on hold for the past six weeks it's time to focus on you again. This could be anything from getting back to a hobby or spending more time looking after you.

If you want to start a new fitness routine, get back to a previous fitness level or take your training to the next level I can help.

Why so negative.

A lot of people start exercising because they want to lose a bit of weight. This obviously is not a bad thing and can greatly improve your quality of life if you are overweight.

As a goal however is it the most positive thing to keep motivated? Have you had a bad day and 'fallen off the wagon' with your calorie deficit? Have you gone out and had a miserable time trying to be good with your food intake? Maintaining a calorie deficit can be tough.

Have you considered adding something that will increase your energy output? Setting a performance goal such as training for a 5k or going for your first pull up gives you a positive target to aim for that will get you moving more, using more energy than you used to and could even put you into a calorie deficit without changing your diet drastically.

Who wouldn't want to not only lose weight but also have a physical achievement (and maybe a medal).

So you have decided you wanted to start exercising but you're not sure where to start. Do you want to run or do resistance training? Do you want to lose inches or gain strength? There are so many different goals and training paths and it's easy to feel lost when starting out.

One way that really helps you with your goals is to write a plan and stick to it. This can be as simple as going for a 30 minute walk every Monday and Wednesday or a gym session plan listing all exercises for that session. Either way a plan helps you stick to your training and reach your goals.

As part of my Personal Training packages I write training plans based around your goals and needs.
