A huge weekend of cricket awaits with all five Saturday sides in Essex League action and cup cricket on Sunday! ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿš— Our 1st XI hit the road bright and early as they travel to Colchester & East Essex CC. After a tough start to the season, the boys are determined to bounce back, put in a big performance and kickstart their campaign! ๐Ÿ‘Š

๐Ÿ  The 2nd XI are back at Harrow Lodge as they welcome Loughton CC, while the 3rd XI make the short trip to Brentwood CC looking to turn their season around and get that first win on the board! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿ’ช The 4th XI host Westcliff-on-Sea CC and will be desperate to turn last weekโ€™s narrow defeat into a winning performance, while the 5th XI return to action away at Aztecs CC, Ilford. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ† Sunday brings knockout cricket for the 1st XI as they head over the bridge to take on Gravesend CC in the Conference Cup for the Bertie Joel Trophy.

๐ŸŒŸ Meanwhile, our Under 16s are in action at home against Newham in the Trevor Bailey Matchplay competition as they look to continue their impressive development and book their place in the next round.

It was a tough weekend for Hornchurch CC, with all four senior sides suffering defeat and our 5th XI fixture unfortunately abandoned due to an unfit pitch. ๐Ÿ˜”

With only four teams taking to the field, we were hoping for a positive set of results, but cricket can be a cruel game at times, and this week wasnโ€™t ours. Despite plenty of effort and commitment across the club, all four sides came away second best.

๐Ÿ A tough weekend for our senior sides, with four defeats and one match abandoned. But amidst the disappointment, one performance stood out from the crowd.

๐ŸŒŸ Charlie Lehane produced a superb innings for the Fourth XI, reaching his maiden senior menโ€™s half-century before going on to score an excellent 70 from 85 balls. Showing composure, determination and plenty of class at the crease, Charlie dug in as wickets fell around him and kept his side in the hunt against Leigh on Sea CC.

๐Ÿ™ Despite his heroics, the Fourth XI were ultimately denied by the clock, with time running out and the team fallinDavid Lehaneort in a spirited chase.

๐Ÿ‘ A fantastic milestone for Charlie and hopefully the first of many senior fifties to come ๐Ÿ‘€

Friday night saw the boys return to Brentwood Town to face new opponents, Talk FC, and what a night it was! โšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

Testing a new formation with a reshaped squad, the lads started fast and created plenty of early chances. Despite not taking them all, we went into the break with a deserved 1-0 lead. ๐Ÿ‘Š

The second half was a different storyโ€”goals flowed freely as the team produced a brilliant attacking display from start to finish. ๐Ÿคฏโšฝ๏ธ

What a performance from our U13s! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

After being put into bat, Hornchurch posted an impressive 134/3 from 20 overs, with Matt Benton and Sonny Ross providing another superb start before skipper Charlie Burd blasted 40 from just 24 balls to retire in style! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ‘ Harry Cheek then added a quick-fire 22 to keep the scoreboard moving. ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ

With the ball, the boys were outstanding from start to finish. Charlie struck early before Thomas Ralph claimed two brilliant wickets, supported by a fantastic catch from Aadi Patel and a sharp stumping from Sonny Ross behind the stumps. ๐Ÿงคโšก

Parker Swaisland and Albert Leigh both got amongst the wickets, while Matt Benton bowled a superb wicket maiden to keep the pressure firmly on Galleywood. ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŽฏ Caleb Watson and Maz Ali bowled with great control, and Jesse Clarkโ€™s excellent fielding helped maintain the intensity throughout. ๐Ÿ‘โญ

A brilliant all-round team performance, packed with runs, wickets, catches and energy, as the boys secured a fantastic 43-run victory and booked their place in the Cup Semi-Finals! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ”ฅ
