End of season awards night was a great way to wrap up an amazing campaign for the first team.

We dedicate our Division 4 North title to our beloved who we lost last May. We know he would be looking down very proud of the football we played and the team spirit he would have embodied if he was still with us on the pitch. We should all be reminded of how lucky we are to be able to be involved in this beautiful game and we'll continue to remember all loved ones who are no longer with us as we move forward into the future.

Slide 3 - Manager's player: a real leader at centre back, he doesn't wear the arm band but our veteran commands respect and earns it with the example he sets for his team mates.

Slide 4 - Most consistent player: the other half of the centre back partnership that was the bedrock of the meanest defence in the division. Cool on the ball and never shirks the physical side of the game.

Slide 5 - Player's player & Most goal contributions (23): James Briars. A silky player with a great attitude who carried the team on more than one occasion this season.

Slide 7 - Goal of the season: - The goal that clinched the title vs Smallfield (a) scrappy but effective. Remember those limbs 🙌🏻

Slide 8 - Top goal scorer (17): an absolute dog who never gives defenders a rest and has the capability to score from almost anywhere in or around the 18 yard box.

Manager's honourable mentions: Angus White, who was a revelation at left back since coming up from the reserves in November & playing his first season of eleven a side football, a talented player who made some vital goal contributions which helped win us league points. DJ has improved and added more to his game as the season went on and we're sure there's still much more to come from him.

We now look forward to finding out what next season in Division 3 North has in store for us.

Details for pre-season will be out ASAP.

New players welcome. Just give us a shout here.

After beating home and away in the league we had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately though, we couldn't make it a league and cup double this season.

We took the lead half way through the first half when Ross Quinnell was put through by Luis Lozano. Railway rarely threatened our goal but battled well to stay in the game and equalise late in the second half.

Penalties didn't go our way and Railway came out as The Parsons Cup winners. Congratulations to all of the Railway staff and players. A solid team who always gives us a good game. We wish them all the best for next season.

Horley AFC are Division 4 North Champions 🏆

Away to Smallfield II we lined up in the 442 diamond that had been serving us well recently and started the game brightly. Scott purse opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a cracking finish on the run after James Briars did some great work on the edge of the Smallfield box to feed him. We couldn't build on this though and no further goals were added in the first half.

Into the second half Smallfield, who were keen to try and ruin the Horley AFC party, battled hard and started to fashion more possession in the final third. Substitutions were made by Horley in an effort to freshen some legs and solidify the midfield but things didn't pan out as planned. Scott Purse, who had put in yet another dogged performance, could be forgiven when he conceded a penalty with about twelve minutes to go.  Our nerves started to jangle when the Smallfield player slotted from the spot to make it 1-1 but heads didn't drop as we knew a draw would likely still be a good result.

Disaster struck four minutes later when Andrews was tackled/fouled on the edge of our box. The ref didn't blow so Hydey had to come out of his goal to take over but, whilst trying to dance away with the ball, he got his feet mixed up. The Smallfield forward robbed him and rolled the ball into an empty net to leave Horley AFC bums squeaking.  At 2-1 down the Horley players had to find a way to equalise or the title would slip out of our hands into the lap of Ifield Albion.

In the dying minutes Jack Poplett, brought on earlier to shore things up, got forward to help find a goal.  He won a header in the Smallfield box, the flick-on was almost secured by the keeper but James Russell had other ideas. After a couple of attempts and what seemed like an eternity, he managed to bundle the ball over the line to send the Horley players and supporters wild. The joy and relief saw limbs flying.

Huge credit to each and every player and supporter that's been involved with the team this season. Everyone who stepped across those white lines has played their part and deserves to share in the glory.

On Saturday we travelled to Southgate United knowing nothing but a win would do to keep us in the hunt for the league title.

Boosted by the return of forward Luis Lozano the team started strong. The link up between Lozano and James Briars was causing Southgate all sorts of trouble.  It looked like Luis had never been away.  The midfield and back line marshalled Southgate excellently and the ball kept coming back to our forwards which allowed us to keep the pressure on in the final third.

The scoring was opened around the twenty minute mark when a Briars corner was headed away by the Southgate defender, only to fall to the boot of Bob Coxon who scored a sensational volley from the edge of the box.

Just before half time we got the cushion we deserved.  Scott Smith snapped into a tackle on the touchline, Briars picked up the loose ball and drove towards the Southgate box, he played the ball to Bob who fed Lozano to sweep the ball in for his first and Horley's second of the game.

Lozano bagged his brace five minutes into the second half.  There was some confusion amongst the players as to whether the ball had gone out of play, but the referee didn't blow his whistle and the Horley players pounced on the opportunity. Angus White fed DJ who was introduced at half time, he carried the ball to the edge of the Southgate box before Briars took over and slid in Lozano whose cool finish across the keeper.

At 3-0 we should have had the game tied up but Southgate got a goal back with half an hour to go and it made things a little nervy. That was until man of the match James Russell popped up with a goal of his own ten minutes later, rounding the keeper after being fed by Lozano, to restore the three goal lead.

There was time for one more Southgate goal but it ended 4-2. and we started to focus on the final league game. A crunch Bank Holiday Monday fixture against Smallfield II, where a point would likely be enough to see us crowned champions.

A thoroughly deserved win and an impeccable performance from the lads. Great team spirit and maximum effort being given by all from minute one.

The gaffer was nervous pre-game, as nothing but a win would do in this one, but those nerves were settled with each kick of the game.

First half goals from Danny Besley and Scott Purse, who picked up yet another man of the match award, put us firmly in control. Ifield Albion couldn't really get the ball into dangerous areas and rarely tested George Hyde in goal. Most of his work was done with his feet, sweeping up behind the back four which has been the bedrock for our success so far this season.

We thought the Albion would come out fighting in the second half but nothing much changed. James Briars added some gloss to the score line netting the third, at the same time edging him level with Ro Quinnell in the race for top scorer.

I'm so proud of this team and the attitude they showed to get this win against their title rivals reserves. It puts the chance of silverware firmly back in our control with two games to play.

The points were shared with at home last Saturday.

We went a goal up early through the mercurial James Briars. Angus White's hooked ball up the line fell into acres of space and Briars did the rest after driving on and cutting in from the left to place the ball low into the far corner.

Horley AFC had the better of the chances overall but were lucky that Smallfield missed the chance to equaliser from the penalty spot just before half time.

Unfortunately we couldn't make the most of our dominance in this one and let Smallfield back into the game after the equalised from a set piece late in the second half.

A hard earned point vs on Monday night in a tight contest against a very good team

We took the lead in the first half through Ro Quinnell but Oxted turned it round to take the lead in the second half.

The players never gave up and a late penalty won and netted by James Briars meant we avoided defeat.

We take the point and move on to our weekend fixture vs before facing on Wednesday evening for a huge match which will have a big say in who ends up as champions this season.

Our midweek result against

Another win on the march for the title!

Goals from James Briars and skipper Jack Ryder either side of half time turned the game around after we went 1-0 down early in the first half.

We were looking forward to keeping the momentum going at our away match with yesterday. Unfortunately though, they couldn't field a team.

That means we're well rested for our home fixture vs on Monday evening, where we look to increase the gap with the now third place team.

A victory over Warlingham IIs makes it three league wins on the bounce for Horley AFC and keeps us firmly in the mix to finish in the top spot.

Two goals from joint-top scorer Ro Quinnell (Briars and Ro both on 12 goals now), a third goal in five games for DJ and another penalty goal for Elliott Andrews helped us take the points.

Ifield Albion moved into the top spot this weekend after beating East Grinstead Harriers while Oxted & District IIs were losing their Parsons Cup semi-final to FC Railway who we take on tonight. While we're down in Edenbridge, Ifield Albion IIs host Oxted & District IIs on what could be a pivotal night in the title race.

The details of our win over the Reigate Priory B team back on the 21st March. Admin forgot to post this one at the time 🤦🏻‍♂️

DJ sealed the win with an emphatic finish after Jack Ryder's searching long ball wasn't dealt with by the Priory defence.

The back line were excellent throughout (special mention to Lee Roser who looked right at home in the team after a long spell away from playing) and gave nothing away which meant the single goal was enough to seal the three points.

Exactly what we needed after the defeat to East Grinstead Harriers the weekend before.
