No one really prepares you for how much life changes after birth.

Not in a dramatic, movie-style way.
In a quiet, layered, everyday way that sneaks up on you while you’re trying to figure out feeding, sleep, healing, and who you even are now.

You can love your baby deeply and still feel completely unrecognisable to yourself.

You can be grateful and also overwhelmed by how relentless it all feels.

Both things can exist at the same time, even if no one told you that was allowed.

The truth is, postpartum isn’t just physical recovery. It’s emotional recalibration. It’s your nervous system learning a new rhythm while your body is still healing and your mind is trying to keep up.

And so many people end up thinking they’re doing it “wrong” because it doesn’t look like what they expected.

Nothing is wrong with you for finding it intense.
Or confusing.
Or slower than you thought.

Support matters more than most people realise — not just someone telling you you’re doing fine, but someone who can actually sit with you in it and help you understand what’s happening in your body and mind.

Modern motherhood asks women to do the impossible.

Stay productive while pregnant. Birth like a goddess. Recover instantly. Breastfeed perfectly. Function without sleep. Carry the invisible load. And smile through all of it.

And after 6 weeks you should be back to "normal".

Then women blame themselves when they feel overwhelmed.

The problem is not that mothers are weak. The problem is that mothers are under-supported.

Pregnancy, birth and postpartum deserve preparation, protection and community — not just survival mode.

This is why doulas matter. This is why honest conversations matter. This is why mothers matter too.

What do you wish someone had told you about motherhood before having a baby?

I’ll go first.

I wish someone had told me that you can feel deeply in love with your baby… and still feel lonely.

That some days you can go hours without being properly listened to.

That leaving the house with a baby can feel like preparing for a military operation 😅

That motherhood was never meant to happen in isolation.

That sometimes what a mum needs most isn’t advice — it’s being held, heard, validated, and around other women who simply get it.

That’s a huge part of why I created my Mum & Baby Yoga classes 🤍

I’m not only a pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher, but also a birth and postnatal doula. Which means my work is not just about movement.

It’s about supporting women emotionally and physically through pregnancy, birth, recovery, identity shifts, feeding journeys, matrescence, and everything motherhood can stir up beneath the surface.

It means I deeply understand that sometimes a mum arrives needing yoga… and sometimes she arrives needing someone to finally ask, “How are YOU doing?”

My classes are gentle, baby-led, relaxed, and completely non-judgemental.

Babies cry. Babies feed. Babies sleep on you. Babies wriggle around the mat. Mums arrive tired, overstimulated, touched out, anxious, emotional, healing, or simply craving connection.

All of that is welcome here.

You do not need yoga experience.
You do not need to feel “fit”.
You do not need a calm baby.

You just need a space where you can exhale a little.

And honestly? Sometimes the best part is realising you’re not the only mum feeling the way you do.
