First win of the season for the boys this morning with a 4-2 win over Willington
A very early start this morning as we headed to Crook for an 8:30 kick off. The boys were energised in the warm up which was good to see despite the early wake up.
First 5-10 minutes saw us dominate possession, passing the ball around and settling into the game well. We took the lead midway through the half when Harry cut in from the right wing to meet a cross first time to smash into the net.
We urged the lads to keep pushing and double our lead before half time and that we did, it was Harry again who recieved a pass just inside the box, sidestepped a defender and hit a great shot accross the keeper to double his tally and take us into half time 2-0 up.
We knew Willington were going to push to get a goal back, we managed to deal with the reagular ariel threat very well as the defenders won their headers and covered each other. Willington did manage to get a goal back when their midfielder was allowed to carry the ball up the pitch and hit a shot into the bottom corner. 2-1 The goal didn’t phase us and we looked to establish our 2 goal lead, it didn’t take long, Oliver on hand to poke in after a cross was sent in by Bobby, Oliver missed the header but fell to him kindly for a second chance. 3-1
Another chance from our left side saw Maxwell deliver a cross along the 6 yard box, this time Fraiser from right back was at the back post to stab home. 4-1
Willington were gifted a mini lifeline when a very dubious penalty was awarded, Harrison looked to have out muscled their attacker and won a tackle, ref took about 10 seconds to convince himself it was a foul and awarded the penalty which was converted. 4-2. Again Thai didn’t phase us, a couple more chances, Theo, Oliver, and Bobby all forcing saves from the keeper and a couple of scuffed efforts we could have done better with.
We managed to see the game out and finish 4-2, compliments from the other coaches and referee about the boys style of football and our first 3 points of the season. Good performance and ever player played a part today 👏

Harry and Harrison 🏆
Harry was electric going forward today and gave their left back a tough game. 2 great goals and showed Harry he can be effective with less touches at times.
Harrison was picked out from the opposition coaches for his defensive display and communication. Won a load of headers and tackles. Communicated brilliantly and his passing and ability on the ball was a lot better this week. Keep it up.
