VETERANS CAN LOCK-IN

As part of being shortlisted a few weeks ago for the Deliver Grant I ( Marc ) was invited to the Tower of London for the Veterans Can Lock In.

We leapt at the chance to attend what was our first VC event and to see the famous Ceremony of the Keys surrounded by our veteran brothers and sisters. So many good people in one place, made new friends , had a lot to drink, lots of laughs, if you’re a veteran come and get involved, you won’t regret it.

JUNGLECRAFT 18/19th JULY

Join our team of ex military and civilian subject matter experts in our private woodland for an insight into tropical expedition skills

We will cover :
• Basecamp site selection
•Movement and navigation (Micro nav for jungle is also same skills used in tight woodland)
• River crossing drills
•Hammock selection and set up
•Equipment selection and set up
•Parang vs Kukri vs Machete and how to use these tools
•Water purification
•Casualty evacuation
• Emergency rope work (abseil and belay with just a rope )
•Personal admin.
•Brief on what to expect from an MDA Jungle trip.

Plus the usual evening around a fire with good food, stories and a few laughs

ARMCHAIR ADVENTURE FESTIVAL

After loving our experiences at the last two festivals as festival goers , this year we’re taking the whole team and putting up a stand to talk about what we do, the skills, experiences and training we can offer plus some merch and cool kit.

We can’t wait for this, would love to see some of the Maddog community there, in fact the first person to approach the stand who is a member of the Wolfpack we will square you away with a coffee and a patch !

REALITY

The reality of running a small Expedition business is yesterday I spent over 2 hours on trains and spent that whole time on Exped admin, booking flights for 4 staff, accommodation, hire vehicles, loading with our medic to get the med kit ready, and much more…

Often people only think of the cool bits they see, the time in the woods, the jungle , doing the “cool s**t with cool people “ but there is a lot of boring admin to make this happen….

As massive fans of the old Camel Trophy we have started to discuss some dream adventures….. one such conversation might have moved a little closer to happening, leaving early for Borneo this year to conduct a Recce for potential Overland Exped in Borneo ….
