County Championships 2026 is in the bag!

And what an event. Held at Hinckley Leisure Centre for the second time, nearly 150 competitors participated throughout the day over 5 categories. We crowned our County Champions for this year.

The standard this year was incredible, showcasing the talent across Leicestershire and Rutland. We even had our favourite pickleball commentator Nick Hobbis on hand to present some of the trophies.

A massive thank you to all of the competitors, organisers and volunteers for making this event an incredible success.

Here is to 2027!

Keep an eye out for in them in their fire red volunteer t shirts!

They will be providing scheduling, entering the scores and keeping the whole event running to time by court monitoring.

We are delighted to have 3 EPF qualified referees in attendance this year.

Having great referees on court during the event will once again add to the overall experience on the day.

Have a rules question, this is a great opportunity to seek clarification.

The referees will participate in as many semi finals, finals and other matches as they can, so they may see you on court!

Our final spotlight on this years pairs to look out for.

And we are on to the gender under 3.5 doubles categories. Our busiest groups and so hard to pick out who will take home the title of County Champions, with some great pairings, with great teamwork and understanding of each others games.

Best of luck to all the players. We cant wait to see you on court.

Today we move onto the mixed categories.

Two more competitions we expect to have some amazingly close games and some great pickleball.

In the mixed under 3.5 draw, watch out for Dinesh Prajapati and
Sue Findlay plus Beth Cunningham and Andy Hutchinson. Paul Ace will also be looking to defend his title with a new partner Laurel this time round.

In the mixed over 3.5 draw, none of the pairings will be returning to defend their podium positions. Keep an eye out for Rachel Smith, fresh from winning gold at the English Open and her partner Daryl Gordon. Expect the battle for medals to be fierce and go to the wire!

Our first preview. The super competitive Men's Doubles over 3.5 category.

In 2025, the title was taken home by Josh Roberts and Ethan Sysum, who beat Harry Worrad and Martin Burch in the final. There will new titleholders this year though, as both pairings are not returning.

Who will take the 2026 title though? How about the youngsters Jaxon and Jack? Fresh from taking medals at the English Open junior event in Birmingham. Watch out also for Chris and Sam Southall, Dom Higgs and Jason Bates, and Ben and Ian Biggs. All of these are capable of beating anyone on their day.

Or will another pairing come through a quality field to take the medals in 2026?

Going to be exciting to find out!
