As I count down the days to my third London Landmarks Half marathon this Sunday it’s dawned on me that some of my key fundamental practices that I preach to all of my clients (but am sometimes guilty of not always following), have really helped me feel fully prepared for this event.

✅Consistency- sticking to my plan even on days when I’ve really not wanted to

✅Nutrition - eating well and the right things at the right times have fueled my workouts and aided in my recovery

✅Listening to my body - resting when I feel fatigued and pushing myself a little bit harder when I know I feel good

✅Trusting the process - there is method to the madness and seeing the improvements in my results isn’t just a fluke. I’ve worked hard to achieve them!

My donations page would really appreciate some more love to my chosen charity The Children’s Society. The fitness I do is for me, but the money I raise is what I like to give back for my achievements.

Did you know I do 2 boot camps a week with Active Mummies? On Monday evenings in Higham Ferrers and Tuesday evening at Ise lodge in Kettering. Each term has a theme we work on, and the start of 2025 was “Kick start”. All the ladies did a 1 min max rep circuit with a mixture of legs, arms and core work. Week 1 they got 1min rest between exercises and on week 6 they got just 30 seconds! And everyone either maintained their reps, beat them and/or increased their DB weight. I am so proud of each and everyone one of them.

I still have a few spaces for the next term starting w/c 24th Feb so get in touch if you’d like to join!

It’s that time of year when people think “Right, this is my year. Let’s do this”… but then realise they haven’t got a clue how to do that or where to start.

So if that’s you and you’re thinking about becoming the best version of yourself in 2025 why not consider having a free consult with me and let’s have a chat about whether PT is right for you!

I may be biased but I have some of the most amazing clients! I’m clocking off a couple of days early to enjoy some much needed family time before the big man arrives. For all those I’ve had the pleasure of working with this year, have a very merry Christmas and bring on 2025, when anything is possible!

10 squats, 20 forward lunges, 20 lateral lunges. All after running 9km this morning. Legs are going to ache tomorrow!

Day 3 of Advent AMRAP. I’ve brought in my pint sized side kick. If she can do it, so can you!

If, like me, you find this time of year hard to find time to fit in your workouts, why not try an advent AMRAP. I choose 3 exercises per day, number of reps, and go for 10min. It gets the heart rate up, works the muscles and when done early in the day sets me up for the rest of the day. Remember, it doesn’t always have to be an hour session every time you train!

“How do you manage to keep working during the school holidays?”

I get asked this a lot and the simple answer is: we adapt! All my clients are in the same boat as me with kids too. So quite often they will bring their kids with them and our kids can play together while we crack on with working out.

And if the kids feel inspired, they can always do a bit of boxing or use some of the smaller weights (supervised of course).

This is Mel. Mel has been coming to me weekly since January this year. She’s gone from find excuses to miss a session, to find every reason under the sun to make sure she doesn’t miss a session. These photos (shared with her permission) are from April until now. And what a change! In Mel’s own words “I wish I’d looked at these photos before now. Seeing how much I’ve changed and knowing what I could do differently with my diet, I know I could see even more results if I just apply myself. Ella has shown me what I need to do, now let’s see what I can do by January!” Let Mel be your inspiration to get started. Results don’t happen overnight but in the long run you’ll see such a difference

Challenging yourself just a little bit each day and pushing past your comfort zone is when you’ll really start seeing results. I’m heading into autumn/winter with a plan to reduce my min/km pace and improve my overall endurance. I have targets I want to break. This morning was hill sprint repeats. 30 seconds as fast as I could uphill followed by a very slow and steady jog for 1 min back down the hill x 8.
