Okay⦠you asked for the protein porridge šš„£
Recipes arenāt really something I post on here⦠but after having quite a few of you ask for this in my DMs, I thought Iād finally share it!
And honestly, the timing couldnāt be better because itās getting colder, darker and Iām already freezing my butt off š
So a warm, comforting breakfast thatās packed with protein? YES please.
š„£ Protein Porridge
Ingredients:
* 30g oats
* 2g cinnamon
* 1 tsp sweetener of choice (if youāre not watching calories, honey or maple syrup would be delicious!)
* 100g egg whites
* 30g low-fat cottage cheese
* 50ml milk or water
Method:
1. Add everything to a bowl and mix well.
2. Hob: Transfer to a pan and gently heat, stirring regularly until it thickens to your preferred consistency.
OR microwave: 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.
3. Add your favourite toppings and enjoy!
š Autumn topping ideas
I used some homemade coffee granola because I had it to use up, but you could add:
š Cooked apples + Cinnamon
š Warmed pears + Pumpkin Spice
š« Berries
š„ Walnuts or pecans for some crunch
šÆ A drizzle of honey or maple syrup
Iām currently pretty limited on calories with prep, so Iāve kept mine simple - but you can absolutely add more toppings when your calories allow! šÆ
Iāve actually been making this for years. Itās one of my favourite ways to get a decent amount of protein into breakfast without relying on protein powder, while still having something that feels comforting and filling.
And because I know some of you are going to ask⦠yes, the cottage cheese and egg whites work š You donāt taste them they help bump up the protein and make the porridge lovely and creamy. Try it!
If you like this kind of post, let me know and Iāll share more recipes on here. šš¼
Save this for a cold morning š„£
