Heywood St James 3–2 Avro Reserves

Jimmies returned to league action today as they travelled to take on Avro Reserves in Division One, looking to continue their perfect start to the season.

Avro started the brighter of the two sides and grabbed an early opener, but their lead didn’t last long. Just seven minutes in, Callum Ormrod levelled the scores after being set up by Jordan Burton.

Heywood St James went on to create the better chances in the first half and completed the turnaround just before the break, with Malaki Gordon finding the back of the net to send Jimmies in ahead.

Avro responded early in the second half to make it 2–2, but Jimmies weren’t done. Callum Ormrod turned provider, unselfishly squaring the ball into the path of Luca Warrender, who slotted home what proved to be the winner.

Another hard-fought three points on the road and the perfect start continues.

MFA Challenge Trophy Result -:

Heywood St James 3–2 West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves

Cup action today for Heywood St James as they took part in the preliminary round of the MFA Challenge Trophy.

West Didsbury got off to a flying start, racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

Jimmies grew into the game and worked hard to take back control of the contest, grabbing the first of their comeback goals just before half-time. Callum Ormrod was brought down inside the area, with Jordan Burton stepping up to convert the resulting penalty.

Jimmies dominated the second half and found a deserved equaliser through Taylor Jones.

There was another twist when the Jimmies goalkeeper was sent to the sin bin, leaving the hosts down to 10 men for 10 minutes and centre-back Nathan Redford taking over the gloves.

Despite the setback, Jimmies completed the comeback in brilliant fashion. Taylor Jones produced a fantastic individual goal, working his way through the West Didsbury defence before calmly slotting home his second of the afternoon to make it 3–2.

A fantastic win for Heywood St James, who showed real grit and determination to fight back from 2–0 down and book their place in the next round of the county cup.
