Halifax College Running Club We are a relaxed and social running club for Halifax College at the University of York, and usually run about 5 - 10 km at the pace of the slowest runner.

We meet every Monday during term time at 6:45pm outside JJ's and all are welcome! :)

Hello! I hope everyone is settling into first term nicely. Last week we had a great turn out completing around 7km.

If you’re thinking about joining here are a couple reasons you should:

- See more of York - or at least more than you see on a night out
- Meet other runners
- Mental and physical benefits
- Improve fitness for other sports

As usual we will be meeting outside JJ’s at 6:45 tomorrow (Monday) for a easy social run.

Have a good week!

One last one for the road.Hope you all have a good week, a wonderful summer, and a brilliant life! All the best,Will :)

For those of you who didn’t manage to make running this week here are the two routes our groups ran. The first one is shorter at about 6 km with the second being 10.5 km. Both start the same way heading out of the outgoing and along the bottom road below East heading back up past the sports village and towards BandQ. From here the shorter route takes Field Lane past east back towards Halifax, either going down the outgoing or Main Street to return to JJs.

The longer route heads into Osbaldwick following the road before using the footpath that leads through Tang Hall towards Morrisons. From Morrisons the group turned left heading back towards Hull road cutting through Regent Street onto Heslington Road and then using the footpath at the Retreat and then behind Wentworth to make their way back to 22 Acres and Halifax.

We hope both groups enjoyed their runs and if anyone else is interested do not hesitate to come down to JJs on a Monday at 6:45pm to see what we are about!

For those of you that didn’t manage to make Monday’s run here is the route. It is just over 10km starting at JJs and heading down broadway towards Millennium Bridge which you cross and turn right following the river into town. Head back across the river at the second bridge where you end up in central York. Follow Coppergate (straight ahead over the traffic lights) past Parliament Square and then follow Peasholme Green out of the city wall. Turn right towards Morrisons at the traffic lights, follow the bus lane that cuts between Morrisons and Foss Island towards James Street. Crossing over the next set of traffic lights head along path behind St Nicholas’ fields as we have in previous weeks before exiting at the normal place on Tang Hall Lane. Heading back towards JJs use Windmill Lane and head back towards 22 Acres. Hopefully you all enjoy this slightly different route and don’t get as wet running it as we did!

Hello! We have exciting news we are hosting our first social of the year! If you are interested in coming to get to know about us in a more relaxed environment (probably the Charles), respond to either the poll on our Instagram story or go on our Facebook and respond to our event. We look forward to meeting seeing some new faces!

This weeks run can be done in reverse if you want to avoid the long hill by Wentworth or if you fancy the challenge go for it. Take the outgang behind Lindley Court straight down towards the A64, very easy to follow as it is the track the leads straight, if you continue on this alongside the bypass it leads to the path along the golf club which you ran last week. Follow this path towards Campus West where you can take the path by the testing centre and past Wentworth before going down Green D***s Lane and carrying on straight over the cross roads. At the bridge take a slight right down onto the path that runs towards Tang Hall Lane. Follow Tang Hall Lane towards Windmill Lane and then back through Heslington Main Street and through the outgang into Halifax again. This route is just over 8 k but feel free to make it longer or shorter depending on how you feel :)

After the change of restrictions we are able to run in person together again and started with a nice summer route. Starting at JJs head towards the out-gang and through Heslington towards Low Lane, cross the A64 by the York Sport Race Circuit. Going down the track take a right heading towards the cow farm and carry on this road until you reach Long Lane. Heading down Long Lane turn right at the end past Langwith Lakes. At the end of this road take the track that is to the right of the house and crossing the bridge turn right towards the golf club where there is a bridge back across the A64. Follow the path along the edge of the golf club back towards the Uni, at this point you can get onto 22 Acres to cut across to Halifax or continue on the paths around the edge. In total this route is about 11.5 km.

We are going to be running every Monday at 6:45 pm from JJs, everyone is more than welcome and we will plan routes based on how people are feeling, hope to see some of you there next week.

Here is this weeks route, sorry its a day late! Its about 9.5 km but like always feel free to shorten or lengthen it if you like.
Starting at Halifax run towards Fulford but follow Heslington Lane (stay left at the roundabout). Turn right at the end of the road and then the second left at St Oswald’s Road before joining the footpath at the end which you can take down towards the river and over Millennium Bridge. Follow the river towards the first bridge which you cross towards Wetherspoons and then follow the city wall before turning right onto Cemetery Road and then left onto Heslington Lane. Follow Heslington Lane all the way to the end and then head towards Campus West either going past the library or the normal route past Wentworth back to JJs.

This will be the last run of the term but please use the routes we have already posted. We hope everything goes well and we can all run in person together next term and meet some new faces. Happy Easter :)

This weeks route is a bit longer than normal at about 15 km, however, if you want to make it shorter just run directly to the race course and then follow the loop. Otherwise, the route begins at JJs as normal and follows the University Road down Green D***s lane and along Hull Road into town. Turn left at the traffic lights before the city wall and follow this road towards the Spoons. Cross the Foss and the Ouse and stay left onto Bishopthorpe Road. Turn right at Balmoral Terrace and stay straight on this road which opens out onto the top of the race course, from here follow the inside paved loop. You can get on this by going left on Knavesmire Road and turning right before it bends. After the loop follow Campleshon Road which takes you back to Bishopthorpe Road, turn left here until you reach Butcher Terrace (its where a few shops are). From here cross Millennium Bridge and head past Aldi through Fulford in the reverse of the normal route down Broadway before turning right past 22 Acres towards Halifax. As always we hope you have a great run! 🏃
