Huge congratulations to my Irish dancing girls on their success in the world championships this year 🏆

Lily placed 20th in her age group, Aimee made it through the first two rounds and danced the best she ever has, and Darcy maintained her 4th place in the world!

You all should be very proud of your achievements and hard work over the past year. I can't wait to see what next year holds!

I have been working with Sophia 1-1 for 3 years now and am always amazed by her sheer determination and dedication.

The progress I have seen over the years has amazed me & I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this little dancing bean.

The reason why dancers should start lifting more weights and avoid obsessing over cardio ⬇️

Dancers should treat themselves as athletes, meaning it is vital for performance to cross train in many ways for improvement and to avoid plateau.

Exercise outside of the studio should look completely different to the ones you perform in the studio as well as encouraging some dance specific moves.

To build muscular strength, power and endurance, lifting weights is the backbone.

To build power you need strength.
To build strength you have to lift.

Essentially training should combine lots of different aspects to see improvements in performance.

I’ve been a little in active on here recently as I am now a new strength & conditioning/ corporate wellbeing coach, as well as being an online coach for dancers.

Safe to say I’m very busy these days juggling lots of clients but feels good to be helping people move more and reach their goals.

Posting this as a little reminder to myself to not forget to take some time for myself as it can be so hard to find balance, especially as dancers juggling training around other commitments.

So remember dancers, take some time for yourself this weekend and do something that’s not dance or work related, we have to live too!

OK THE NEWS IS OUT 🫢⚠️…

Looks like I’m sticking to this academic stuff for now…

I am officially off to study a MSc in Strength and Conditioning at Loughborough University so that I can continue towards my dream of helping athletes and dancers to become more confident, injury free and perform at their best.

Was a lot of umming and arring about which direction I should take but I know this is the right one for me in order to get me to where I want to be in the future.

Here’s to new adventures and pursing our dreams no matter how scary they may feel!
