Derby day victory for the Development lads!

Henllan Development showed great spirit to come from 3-1 down at half time to run out victors against Denbigh Town Development.

Henllan started slow and found themselves 2-0 down after 12 minutes.

Henllan pulled one back on the 41st minute but were quickly punished again 2 minutes later and found themselves 3-1 down at half time.

Words were said at half time and as a group we knew we needed to be better on the ball and utilise the pitch and that’s exactly what we did.

2 goals in the first 10 minutes of the half got Henllan back level but Denbigh retook the lead on the hour mark to make it 4-3.

Henllan hit back with 2 goals in 5 minutes to lead 5-4 for the first time in the game with 25 to go.

Henllan started to control the game and create more chances and eventually were awarded with another goal on the 83rd minute to complete the scoring and secure all 3 points for Henllan Development.

Derby day!

Today the Development team make the short trip to neighbours Denbigh Development for a local derby.

This is a great opportunity for some of the younger lads to play on Central Park.

A big weekend of football coming up for Henllan starting off with the first team welcoming Llandyrnog to Top Parc on Saturday.

Sunday sees the Development team travel to Central Park to play Denbigh’s development team in a league fixture.

Both are local derbies and will be highly entertaining games.

A lot of work has gone on at Top Parc, especially on the pitch and this is the first home game of the season for Henllan’s first team. Llandyrnog are on a fine run of form winning 5/5 in the league with last week’s result a real statement, but on derby day anything can happen and the lads look forward to the challenge.

Sunday the Development team who have had a strong start to the season with some good results will be looking to get on over on their local rivals Denbigh.

If you are able to, come along and support both teams In what will be a fine weekend of local football!

This is the first time these two have met with Meliden being a new team in the development league, it will be a tough place to go to but the lads are ready to battle to try bring some points home 💪

A slow start cost Henllan dearly..

2 goals down in the first 15 mins as the development lads didn’t get going early on, we were then unfortunate not to score a couple of our own and then were hit with a real blow on the stroke of halftime as Mochdre bagged a 3rd.

Henllan Development came out flying and really put the pressure on Mochdre Dev but again unable to convert any chances created.

Subs came on and made a real impact and Leon Jones quickly made his mark 5 minutes after coming on to pull one back.

Henllan were really pressing now with the Mochdre keeper making some good saves and a with disallowed goal from Henllan time was running out.

Cai Collier another substitute scored his second ever senior goal with a great finish in the 90th minute to set up a frantic ending but it wasn’t to for Henllan who unfortunately came away with no points.

Credit to the lads, never let their heads drop and fought till the very end.

Well done to Mochdre who were very clinical on the day 🤝

This afternoon the development team host Mochdre Sports Developments at Trefnant.

Today will be another tough test for the lads but the lads will be confident after the back of a good win last weekend.

Please note the game is being played at Trefnant due to ongoing work at Top Parc.
