SUNDAY

After their close match up the previous weekend, it was the return fixture with the Exiles travelling to Three Towers United.

The game was end to end as the home side took the lead quite early on.

Henley were creating their own opportunities but just couldn’t score. A reoccurring theme that summed up the Exiles season perfectly.

Three Towers extended there lead with a good finish to make it 2-0.

Just before halftime the Exiles forced their way back into the game when Captain Henry McDonagh played a lovely through ball to Musa Saidybah who beat the offside trap and tucked it away neatly.

The second half was a similar story to the first. Henley playing good football with very little reward.

Against the run of play United scored their third, making the score 3-1 and unfortunately for the Exiles that’s how the match concluded.

THURSDAY

On Thursday evening Henley Exiles welcomed Division 5 table toppers The Oak Tree to Harpsden Village for the home team’s final game of the 25/26 season.

The Exiles started the game with high energy and a great intensity. Smothering the opposition and creating chance after chance throughout the first half.

However, Henley were unable to get the goals their dominance deserved and went in at half time 0-0.

In the second half it was a far more even contest. Both teams battled hard to gain an advantage, then on the hour mark the visitors took the lead after a slight lack of concentration by Henley defensively.

Thereafter, the Exiles continued to play well and competed all over the pitch, but unfortunately they just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Oak Tree sealed their victory with a goal late on. Ending the game with a fortunate 0-2 win to retain top spot and continue their unbeaten record.

A feisty encounter that left the Exiles feeling frustrated!

SATURDAY

It was the final game of the season for the Henley Exiles in the Thames Valley Premier League, Division Two. They travelled to fellow strugglers Maidenhead Town Development.

It was a confidant start by the Exiles and they were playing some good football, creating chances but unfortunately they were unable to convert.

Then against the run of play Maidenhead took an undeserved lead to set Henley back.

However, Henley stayed focused and continued to attack with some excellent combination play but were still just squandering one opportunity after the another.

On the stroke of half time Maidenhead managed to double their lead.

The second half was a totally different story and Henley looked like they had given up the ghost.

Thereafter, the score just got further and further away from the visitors and Maidenhead ran out 7-0 winners.

SUNDAY

It was a top of the table clash on Sunday morning as the Exiles welcome Three Towers United.

Both teams were evenly matched and it was a really good contest. Henley were creating the better chances but like the story of their season weren’t clinical enough to take the lead.

After a couple of costly errors Henley found themselves 0-2 down at halftime and chasing the game.

However, the Exiles did start the second half strong and got a goal back when Michael Whorrell delivered a great ball in the box that Dylan got on the end of and he powered it into the back of the net.

Unfortunately, his joy was short lived as not long after he put the ball into his own net to restore the two goal deficit.

Henley weren’t finished there and kept on pushing to get another goal back, and they did just that when Albie McCullough delivered a long throw into the box that Michael Whorrell struck in top corner.

Trying to get the deserved equaliser lead to Henley getting caught on the break with a sucker punch. Ending the scoring and their hopes of getting anything from the game.

A valiant effort but the Exiles were beaten 2-4 at the final whistle.

SATURDAY

The last Home game of the season for the young Exiles Saturday team was against a fellow relegation candidate in SB Phoenix.

It was a hard fought and evenly contested match in the first half with little goal mouth action in truth. However, it was SB Phoenix that went in at half time with the 0-1 advantage.

In the second half both teams created a lot more chances but unfortunately for Henley it was the visitors that capitalised again to make it two.

The Exiles thought they found a way back into the contest when a quality free kick to the back post was headed in powerfully, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

In the end, a good contest between the two sides finished a disappointing 0-2 in favour of the away team.

SUNDAY

Henley Exiles welcomed a dogged Calcot FC to Harpsden Village on Sunday morning.

The home team started totally on top, playing good football and creating chances after chance. However, Henley were unfortunately unable to convert them in the first half.

In the second half the game followed a similar pattern. Then, on around the hour mark Henley got the breakthrough their play deserved when Dylan Waters played a lovely through ball to Connor Gough who blasted the ball past the goalie at his near post.

More chances were created but the Exiles were unable to finish their dinner and ended the game 1-0 winners.

Henley Exiles hosted the Reading Kites at Harpsden Village on Sunday morning.

The home team started really well and were totally on top in the opening stages. Musa Saidybah capitalised on an error by the Kites defence to give Henley the lead.

It was two when Musa was later brought down in the box and Ben Stodolnic confidently tucked away the penalty.

The Exiles made it 3-0 before the half as Dylan Waters played a lovely through ball into Rufus Gould who then jinxed by his defender and shot it low into the bottom corner.

It was more of the same in the second half when Tyree Street won his header from the Kites Goal Kick and put it into the path of Musa to neatly finish.

Reading Kites were gifted a way back into the match when there was some confusion regarding a substitution being made.

Then shortly after a blatant handball denied them a goal but the resulting penalty was put away nicely.

Henley rolled up their sleeves and continued to play some excellent football scoring a lovely team move which ended with Tyree setting up Musa for his hat-trick.

The days scoring was concluded when Dylan Waters laid the ball back for Musa, yet again, to claim his fourth goal of the game and a well deserved man of the match.

Henley Exiles ran out as comfortable 6-2 winners by the final whistle.
