A little exploration can make all the difference in your yoga practice.

In this variation of Parighasana (Gate Pose), you can either flex the opposite foot or keep it gently pressed into the floor. Both options are valuable, it’s simply about discovering what feels right for you.

Flexing the foot actively engages the muscles of the extended leg and can create a stronger sense of alignment.

Keeping the foot flat offers more stability and a softer, more accessible stretch through the inner thigh.

Try both variations and notice how your body responds.

As you move into the pose, keep your back long and gently reach your left arm out to the side. Breathe naturally and, when you’re ready to release, bring both arms up before changing sides.

Parighasana is a beautiful pose to include at the beginning of your practice as you warm up, awaken the side body, and prepare for your standing flows.

If you’d like to explore the pose, its variations, and how to work with your body with more ease, I’d love to welcome you to my yoga class. Come and practise with me. Everyone is welcome 🙏

Lotus Mudra is a gesture of purity, love, and heart awakening. In yogic traditions, the lotus represents beauty and purity emerging from the mud, unstained from muddy waters, it teaches us to rise above negativity.

You can practice this during your morning meditation, evening relaxation or it can be practiced anytime for emotional balance. I usually use this mudra at the start of class during pranayama for five minutes as it helps to ease any worries and promotes self-love and acceptance 🪷

A classic standing posture, Tree pose (Vrksasana in Sanskrit) establishes strength and balance, and helps you feel centered and steady. When I practice this pose, I usually visualise roots growing beneath my feet into earth, allowing me to feel more grounded 💚

What makes this pose special is that it teaches you to explore your connection with your body. Maybe one day your lifted foot is positioned closer to your groin. Maybe another day, you leave your foot partially on the ground for balance. It's taught me to be honest with my limits and to honor what my body needs on any given day ✨🧘🏻‍♀️

One of my favourite twist poses to teach is the Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose) it is a deep, restorative twist that is both strengthening and rejuvenating.

Your entire torso twists in the pose, which improves circulation, helps with digestion and improves spinal mobility.

It’s important to keep both sit bones grounded. If that isn’t accessible, you can always explore other variations that offer similar benefits. Come and join my yoga classes, where we can explore these variations together and find what feels right for your body ✨🧘🏻‍♀️
