🥋 BUILDING BETTER KICKS 🦵

Monday’s class focused on developing the hip abductors alongside improving our kicking technique.

Strong, well-conditioned hips play an important role in Karate — helping students develop better balance, control, stability and power when kicking.

It’s not just about how high or hard you can kick. Good technique comes from developing the strength, mobility and body control needed to perform each movement properly. 👊

A great session building stronger foundations and more capable Karateka! 🔥

👏 Well done to our students who stepped up to perform Junro Nidan after just ONE lesson of practice! 🥋

A great example of having the confidence to give something a go, even when it’s still new. Plenty more practice to come, but a brilliant effort from everyone! 👏

🥋 A small favour from our JKS Clyde community

We’re asking all of our students, parents, families, friends and supporters if you could spare just a couple of minutes to help us out.

liveArgyll are currently asking local families what activities they would like to see included in future Holiday Camp programmes.

If you’re completing the survey, we would be incredibly grateful if you could request JKS Clyde Karate as an activity you’d like to see offered.

Support like this could help open the door to more opportunities for us to introduce children across the local area to Karate and continue growing our community.

Even if you’re not currently attending the club yourself, your response still helps demonstrate that there is genuine local interest in seeing Karate included.

A few minutes from lots of people can make a real difference, so thank you as always for getting behind JKS Clyde. 🥋

🥋 Empowering Women & Girls Through Sport 💪❤️

There’s something special about watching young girls grow in confidence through sport — and then seeing them use that confidence to lift up those coming behind them.

A brilliant example from the weekend as our Competition Team Captain and club role model Chloe Glover took the time to warm up and support Sophie Darroch before Sophie stepped onto the mat for her first ever competitive Kumite match. 🥊

For Sophie, it was a huge new experience. For Chloe, another opportunity to step up, lead by example and pass on some of the confidence she has developed through her own Karate journey.

This is what we want sport to give our girls — confidence, courage, friendships, opportunities and strong female role models. 🌟

One young athlete taking her first steps into competition, supported by another who is developing into a brilliant young leader within the club. ❤️

Not just building competitors.
Building strong, confident young women who support each other. 🥋🔥

🥋 Central Scottish Open Championships 🥋

A big well done to our JKS Clyde students who stepped onto the competition floor today at the Central Scottish Open Championships! 👏

⭐ Chloe Glover – competing for the first time since stepping up into the tough 3rd Kyu+ category. Some great experience gained across both Kata and Kumite, with plenty of positives to take back into the dojo as we continue adjusting to this new level. Lots of potential to build on! 💪

⭐ Ben Cullen – a massive well done on entering his first major regional competition after almost a year away from Karate. Brilliant to see you back, getting stuck in and gaining valuable experience at your first competition of this scale! 👊

⭐ Sophie Darroch – congratulations on competing in your first ever Karate competition! Sophie threw herself straight in at the deep end and took the whole experience in her stride. A fantastic first step into competition Karate! 🌟

Plenty of positives, plenty learned, and plenty to get back into the dojo and work on! 🥋🔥

A huge thank you to the parents for giving up their time and supporting our students today — these opportunities wouldn’t be possible without you. ❤️

Thanks also to our fellow JKS Scotland team for coaching and supporting our students throughout the day, and to all of the organisers, officials and volunteers who gave their time to make the event possible. 👏

Back to work! 🥋

A big thankyou to everyone that attended September’s Black belt syllabus class today at the Honbu Dojo.
Great work from you all.
See you in October.

LESS SCREEN TIME. MORE MOVEMENT. 🥋💪

While many children spend their evenings sitting in front of screens, our students are doing the opposite.

They’re moving, stretching and developing their bodies — building flexibility, mobility and functional movement, while improving strength, power, balance and coordination.

Karate isn’t just about learning punches and kicks. It’s about helping young people build strong, capable and confident bodies that will benefit them far beyond the dojo.

Move better. Get stronger. Build habits for life. 🥋
