Hedon Rangers V Sproatley Eagles

What looked like a warm sunny morning was deceivingly cold. A freshly cut pitch made for a great playing surface. The boys looked on fire during the warm up so we knew we were in for a great game!

Game 1
The boys made a strong start opening the scores after 2 minutes with a well worked corner, both teams battled well with the game really being end to end. Shortly before half time, a lack of concentration caused Eagles to slip in an equalizer. After half time, the boys came out strong again, hitting the back of the net only a couple of minutes in. The game continued end to end with Eagles bringing it level before full time.

Game 2
Eagles came out looking to score and did within the first minute, the boys maintained their positivity and battled hard, unfortunately luck wasn’t on their side, hitting the post and a goal line clearance from the Eagles. The Eagles scored two more in quick succession with the boys hitting the back of the net just before the half time whistle.

After half time, the boys battled hard and were rewarded with a goal, they continued to press. Eagles remained strong and managed to score again a couple of minutes before the full time whistle.

The boys played really well today, lots of positives to take away today, some lovely passing movements. The boys gave 100% today, chasing down every opportunity and pushing on when they conceded.
Well played Hedon and Sproatley Eagles!

Man of the Match - Stanley 🏆
Another great performance from Stan, he is the Mr Reliable of the team, with complete consistency and the desire to play great football. Rewarded with a goal today for all of his hard work. Well played Stanley!

Were trying to get the postponed game V Bridlington replayed but this game marks the end of the official phase, the boys have relished their time in Group 1. They’ll now look forward to some tournaments and friendlies before we go again in September as U9s!

Matchday 10 - 3rd May 2026

Hedon Rangers V South Cave

Our 1st home game for a few weeks. We escaped the rain but the pitch was wet with the ball zipping fast on the grass. A good 30 minute warm up and the boys were ready to go!

Game 1

It started quite scrappy again with both teams struggling to hold on to the ball. It was a tight first 5 minutes with both goalkeepers making good saves to keep it level. Unfortunately though, an unlucky moment saw South Cave take the lead. They scored another just before half time, with the boys looking a little deflated after a good first half.

The 2nd half and we came out battling again. It was a tight start but unfortunately another unlucky moment gave South Cave a goal, but we didn’t give up. Coming close ourselves a couple of times, it was South Cave though who scored again before full time. Well played South Cave.

Game 2

We started well again and the boys were battling hard! It just wasn’t our day today as a South Cave shot deflected off us giving our GK little chance. A further unlucky moment gave South Cave a 2nd and our heads dropped a bit. We carried on but it was South Cave who looked dangerous still and scored 2 more before half time.

The 2nd half and we still shot out of the blocks but it just wasn’t enough today as South Cave scored again early on. We battled on, never giving up and pulled a deserved goal back. The boys kept going and came close a few times but ultimately, South Cave had too much today and scored 2 more before full time. Well played South Cave.

The boys did great today and we take alot away from it. South Cave are a very good, well organised side. Dangerous up front and strong at the back, it frustrated us as chances were limited. The boys all gave 100% though and never gave up! Both goalkeepers again with fantastic saves and strong hands. Well played Hedon and thanks to South Cave!

Man of the match - Bailey 🏆

Chosen by the opposition, Bailey worked his socks off again! From tackling one second to shooting the next, he was everywhere today. Showed some nice passing and vision and came close a couple of times too! Well played Bailey 🏆

Matchday 9 - 26th April 2026

Elloughton Blackburn V Hedon Rangers

After playing Elloughton in a pre-phase friendly earlier this year, we knew this was going to be another couple of hard fought games. The weather was kind again, no rain or wind. Conditions and pitch were good and it was game on.

Match 1

We started slowly and it was difficult to get the ball down and play. There wasn’t much space with both teams closing down and tackling well. It was a tight, scrappy half with not many chances. We came close by hitting the post but neither team could break the dead lock.

The 2nd half and both teams looked dangerous. It was Elloughton though who scored first with a well taken goal. Our heads dropped a bit and we were under presure for a couple of minutes, until a great strike from outside the box drew us level! This spurred us on and swung the game. After hitting the post we scored again just before the final whistle! Well played Hedon!

Game 2

We started the 2nd game with more confidence and belief. It was us who scored first this time after some great closing down. It was another tight half with both teams battling hard. Chances were limited again but the dedication was there!

The 2nd half was another tightly fought half. Both teams were having chances but ultimately both teams cancelling each other. It looked like we were going to hold on but Elloughton drew level after an unlucky error. We hit the post again before full time but couldn’t find a winner. Well played Hedon and Elloughton

Today was a tough challenge with both teams battling hard for every ball. There wasn’t an abundance of chances in either game but it was another physical test where we had to dig deep. The boys did great and showed again how far they’ve come. Both keepers played their part again with some important saves too! Well Played Hedon!

Man Of The Match -Stanley 🏆

Another great performance! His consistency and desire to win the ball is a real credit. From sweeping up at the back to scoring 2 superb goals, he showed again what he has in his locker! Well played Stanley! 🏆

Matchday 8 - 12th April 2026

Gilberdyke V Hedon Rangers

An early start for our trip to Gilberdyke for a 9.30am kick off today. Weather looked good, pitch looked decent but the wind was howling! After playing Gilberdyke in the Easter Cup on Friday we knew it was going to be a tough morning. We kicked off into the wind..

Match 1

Again, a frantic first couple of minutes saw some good defending. We’d just settled down, and the ball dropped to Gilberdyke and a good long range strike saw them take the lead. Our confidence dropped but we kept battling. With the wind against us, a couple of mistakes and we were punished from distance again, twice before half time after coming close a couple of times ourselves.

Not to be discouraged our boys came out with some fight the 2nd half. It was an even half with both teams showing grit and determination. We defended much better and created some good chances, but Gilberdyke always looked dangerous and it was them who scored again before full time! Well played Gilberdyke

Match 2

Taking some confidence from the last half, the boys went from strength to strength! They came out with purpose and immediately put Gilberdyke under pressure. It was rewarded with a nicely worked team goal and they looked good. The boys were working so hard with great energy. Playing some nice football and the defence standing tall we managed to score another goal just before HT!

The 2nd half we came out a bit slow with Gilberdyke scoring from their 1st attack. From then it was very much a battle. Both teams contesting every ball with both GK making great saves. Unfortunately, Gilberdyke drew level with a few minutes left, it could have gone either way and we came within inches of the post but it was Gilberdyke who nicked just before FT. Well played Gilberdyke.

The wind played a huge part today. They all had to dig deep again in 2 intense, physically demanding games. Some of the defending again was superb and we created some great chances. The team work and communication is improving every week and we couldn’t be prouder of them today!

Man Of The Match - Arthur 🏆

Arthur at his best. Both Friday’s tournament and today he’s showing great bravery and those quick feet getting us out of trouble! - He reads the game so well! Strong in defence and quick in attack! Well played Arthur!

Next weekend we have no game, back on 26th April 🔵🔵🔵🔵

10th April 2026

Leeds Utd Easter Cup

The boys were invited to take part in the Easter Cup tournament at Leeds United training ground today!

It was 2 groups, 6 teams in each. You played 5 group games and then depending on where you finish in your league depends on which cup you play off for. Gold (1st and 2nd), Silver (3rd and 4th), Bronze (5th and 6th). Games were 10 minutes with no half time, and play off games 15 minutes.

The weather was nice, sunny but not too warm and not much wind. There were 4 pitches outside and 2 inside. The inside pitches were larger which did effect the game style but every team had to adapt accordingly!

Game 1

Hedon Rangers V Evolution Acadamy

The boys were excited to get started and came out flying, scoring our 1st goal in the first couple of minutes. This settled us and another quick goal gave us a cushion. Evolution came back at us and got 1 goal with time left for more, but we stood strong. Some brave tackles and great teamwork. Great game. Well played Hedon

Match 2

Hedon Rangers V GOMERSAL & CLECKHEATON

We moved indoor for our next 2 games. With such a large pitch to cover, goals were always going to come from errors or quick counter attacks, and it wasn’t long before we were caught out with a power shot, giving our gk no chance! It was Gomersal who pressed and scored 2 more goals. Our heads didn’t drop though and we managed to get a goal back before full time to end 1-3 to Gomersal. Well played Gomersal

Game 3

Hedon Rangers V Sproatley

Our second indoor game was against our friends at Sproatley Hawks! Again with both teams adapting to the larger pitch, more emphasis was on defending and not letting the other team through, and therefore ending an entertaining 0-0 draw. Both teams had chances, both defended really well with sone great saves and either could have won! Well played Hedon and Sproatley!

Game 4

This match was recorded a 3-0 victory to us as the other team didn’t turn up. This was the same for every team who played them.

Rested and back outside for our final game against our league opponents this Sunday, in a winner takes all game. Winner in the gold cup and loser in the silver cup!

Game 5 - Hedon Rangers V Gilberdyke

It didn’t start well unfortunately. Gilberdyke flew out and was 0-1 in the 1st 20 seconds. At this level, a lack of concentration can be fatal and Gilberdyke pounced straight away scoring another 2 quick, back to back goals. The boys were deflated but kept going with some great tackling. It was Gilberdyke though who scored again. We kept going and did get 1 back before FT and it ended 1-4. Well played Gilberdyke!

We ended up finishing 4th in the group. The boys did fantastic and in the end just missed out on a shot at the gold cup! Our next game was our semi final for the Silver cup!

Hedon Rangers V Boro Rangers Inter

Boro Rangers came out with purpose and scored in the 1st minute. A good side who could move the ball around nicely. The boys legs got heavy and it despite some good defending Boro Rangers scored 2 more before the 10 minute mark. The boys looked tired and Boro Rangers went on to win 6-0. A tough one to take for the boys. Well played Boro Rangers Inter

The last game was a 3rd place play off, losers of each silver cup semi final!

Hedon Rangers V Lindley Moor

Well if the boys weren’t tired last game they were this game. The deadlock was broken by Lindmoor after 4 mins and a quick 2nd goal 2 minutes later. The boys heads dropped a bit but they never gave up. Creating chances ourselves, coming close a few times. Unfortunately though, Lindmoor scored in the 10th minute and our boys were spent. The game finished 7-0 but honestly the boys gave their all!

Not the best way to end the tournament but it was an all round fantasic couple of hours though, and we will take a lot away from today!

It was a tough afternoon. Intense, demanding and of course the occasion! The games were all physical with nowhere to hide and the boys handled the pressure fantastically well.

Playing some good teams, we still showed what we could do, passing the ball around nicely and creating and scoring some good goals. Our defending was fantastic at times too with both GK making vital saves.

More importantly another great experience and more growth for the boys and the team! We go again on Sunday against Gilberdyke!

Well played Hedon 🔵🔵🔵

Matchday 7 - 5th April 2026

Hedon Rangers v Barham

A rearranged fixture against another strong Barham team today. The sun was shining, pitch dryer than last week, it was only the wind that let us down.

Match 1 -

It started at a frantic pace. The ball pinging everywhere and 2 dedicated teams trying to find a bit of space. As Barham were pushing, we broke free and a calm finish saw us take the lead! Barham kept the pressure on and despite some great defending and saves we couldn’t keep them out and they scored 2 quick goals before half time!

After half time, the boys came out stronger and it was very much a battle still. A physical game with both teams fighting fairly for the ball, but we levelled the game by an unlucky own goal and thought we could maybe nick it. Barham kept the pressure on though and scored from a set piece before full time. Well played Barham!

Match 2

The 2nd game and the boys came out with more belief and purpose. It wasn’t long before a good strike saw us take the lead! Buoyed on, we started to find space and some great passing saw us score again! Barham kept coming but we held strong, defending as a team and was rewarded again with a great strike before half time!

Barham weren’t giving up and came straight out of the blocks looking for a goal. It came quickly and they had their tails up. Some strong defending though and a great save from our gk kept our heads and confidence up. More great teamwork, we scored again with a well worked goal. Our final goal came like a rocket! 🚀 Well played Hedon!

Another 2 hard fought games today. Physical and quite scrappy in the 1st game, it could’ve gone either way. Like last week, the 2nd game we got on the ball more and managed to pass it around and play, showing some fantastic teamwork. The boys did great again and their effort was top drawer. The defence was strong and held off a good Barham side. Some superb strikes today too including a great 1st half hatrick for Reuben in the 2nd game! Well played Hedon!

Man of the match - Parker 🏆

Parker was outstanding again today. In both defence and attack he didn’t let anyone get the better of him. His work rate was fantastic, tracking players runs and making vital tackles. Was rewarded with an absolute worldy ⚽️ before full time. Well played Parker!

Matchday 6 - 29th March 2026

Hedon Rangers V Tickton

Today saw us play a strong Tickton side who could obviously find the net, so the boys had to be on it from kick off. Another dry morning with a good but wet playing surface and the boys looked awake despite losing an hours sleep…

Match 1

We came out with a bit more confidence than previous weeks. It showed as we managed to get some great passing moves together early on. Tickton looked dangerous too and it was very end to end. It was us who broke the deadlock with a nice calm strike, but Tickton equalised before half time with a long range effort, giving our keeper little chance!

The 2nd half started intensely. Both teams playing well. A lot of cancelling each other out, with everyone getting stuck in. After some great dribbling, the space opened and we took the lead again! Tickton started to push us and with 8 minutes left, we still had work to do. With some resolute defending and a match winning save tipped on to the bar the boys held out! Well played Hedon!

Match 2

The boys seemed to find their rhythm in the 2nd game. Strong defending early on gave us the platform and it was us who scored 1st again with a great passing move. Tails up, the boys scored another quick goal giving themselves some breathing space. Tickton kept coming but we remained strong. Another good strike just before half time gave us a nice cushion going into HT.

The 2nd half and our boys still didn’t stop. All of them working hard with and without the ball. Tickton still creating chances, but so were we, scoring our final goal of the game with a well placed shot. Tickton still kept the pressure on though and scored a goal just before the Full Time whistle! Well played Hedon!

A fantastic couple of results today against a good Tickton side. The first game was very well matched with lots of chances for both teams. In the 2nd game our boys seemed to take more control of the game. Some of our passing and team work was really good! They all worked so hard again and showed a level of commitment you need in this group. Well played Hedon!

Man of the match

Stan 🏆
Arthur 🏆
Bailey 🏆

Stan was everywhere again showing zero fear. His reading of the game is superb, making vital tackles to great link up play. Was rewarded with 2 nicely taken goals! Well played Stan!

Arthur was again confident and strong in the tackle, always in the right place at the right time. Some great footwork and dribbling saw him score a couple of nicely taken goals. Well played Arthur!

Bailey was non stop again. Chasing down balls, breaking up play. Some of his passing was fantastic and he was also rewarded with a couple of good goals. Well played Bailey!

Motm was spread over 3 players today but honestly all of them could’ve had it. A real team effort, the full team they should be proud of themselves!

Matchday 5

East Riding Rangers v Hedon Rangers

Another sunny sunday morning, but colder than it looked and little wind. Todays game was played on 3G pitch in a cage, which the boys were fine with. A 30 minute warm up and the 1st game kicked off.

Match 1

We started a bit better than previous games but East Riding were a big team and didn’t give us much time on the ball. It was tight for the first 5 minutes with a lot of battling but it was us that took the lead before half time!

The 2nd half and the boys were looking good. Despite a couple of long range shots we held our own and slotted away another goal. Just as we started to look confident and find our rhythm, East Riding Rangers got 1 back. It looked like we were going to hold on for the win but ERR levelled it just before full time. Well played Hedon and East Riding Rangers

Match 2

We started the 2nd game with the belief we can go on and win this game. It started great with a nice early goal that should’ve settled us. Unfortunately, East Riding Rangers got one back and as we have learnt in this group, a mistake or lack of concentration you get punished and East Riding Rangers scored another 2 in quick succession.

The 2nd half was more of the same. The ERR team were all tall lads and it was a good physical game, with both teams getting stuck in. There were some good chances and great saves from both teams but unfortunately, we just couldn’t find another goal. Well played East Riding Rangers!

Another good learning curve for the boys today. They were unlucky to draw the 1st game and just couldn’t find a way through ERR strong defence in the 2nd game. They all had to be brave again and we showed some great passing moves and team work. We go again on Sunday against Tickton!

Well played boys!
