RESULT: Heckington United 2-4 Witham FC

Yesterday morning we took on Witham FC, a team who had come down from division 1 last season, in what was, for most parts, a tight game.

Before the first hydration break it was a fairly balanced game, both sides had half chances, but it was Witham who were able to put together a good string of passes and find an opening to put themselves 1-0 up.

At half time both sides made changes, and we took advantage as from kick off we won the ball and Kris Zaluninskis was able to break through and put us level,

We continued to apply pressure leading up to the second half hydration break and right before the break we were gifted the lead as a ball in the air was attempted to be headed back by the defender whose goalkeeper completely misjudged it and it fell in the net.

Into the final quarter of the game and we started to fall off, legs started to go and Witham took advantage as they stuck 3 past us in quick succession to give themselves the win.

A good test against a strong side and a lot more positives to take than negatives.

NEXT MATCH

Tomorrow we take on Witham United in one of our tougher tests of pre-season.

After 1 win and 2 draws so far this pre-season we’ll be looking to kick on and really show what we’re about.

HECKINGTON UNITED 2-1 SLEAFORD TOWN SUNDAYS

A perfect start to pre season for us as we beat a young Sleaford side 2-1 at home.

We started the brighter team and dominated the physicality of the game, we were rewarded with the opening goal when Taylor Doherty took the ball off the foot of the Sleaford centre back and ran clean through on goal before a simple finish down the middle.

As the first half went on, Sleaford had there chances to get back into the game and got their equaliser, as a free kick went all the way through our defence and into the back of the net.

Just before half time, we got ourselves back ahead as some great link up play down the right hand side led to Owen Borchardt chopping inside and being hacked down by the Sleaford defender winning us a penalty, which Connor Jenkinson easily converted.

The second half was a cagey affair with us riding our luck at times, however, we saw the half out and sealed the win.

Next week we head to Bardney Panthers, a new team to Lincoln Division 4 next season, so no doubt a tough test but one we’re more than ready for.

WE ARE BACK

After a disappointing end to last season we took a big break over the summer but are now back and ready to go again for another year of Sunday football!

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get ourselves ready for the new season, we’ve got plenty of new faces and just as many returning as well!

Tomorrow morning we take on Sleaford Town Sundays, a new team in the division above next season, it’ll be a challenge but a great test for this new look Heckington team!

It would be great to see as many of you down as possible to support the boys!

On Saturday afternoon we took on Heckington JFC Allstars in the Barrie Johnson Memorial Shield.

We ran out 6-2 winners in what was a brilliant day all to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

A great event made possible by all the hard working volunteers.

Some members of the Saturday team are taking on the Heckington 10 Mile race during Show weekend this July to raise money for Heckington United Football Club. They are busy training when not on the pitch!

As a newly formed club coming to the end of just our second season, we’re working hard to grow something special. The funds raised will go towards improving equipment and facilities, as well as helping us continue to build a strong pathway for players progressing from JFC into adult football – keeping local players within the Heckington football family.
