I am being forced to cancel the class tonight, and possibly for a few weeks as the centre have not sent off for the instructor DBS registration. Without them it is unsafe to run the class, albeit I am aware all coach would obtain a DBS with no hassle, however the centre won't accept this. The gradings will hopefully still go ahead next week, and the week after once I have spoken to sensei Ian and Michael.

Just in case you haven't seen any of my posts on Facebook over the past 3-4 weeks i am aiming to open the club again in the coming few weeks. Unfortunately, to cover costs for those lessons when only one or two arrive i need to now take a monthly direct debit. It will be £28 per month and cover every lesson (regardlessif its 8 or 10 lesson month), at present the guidelines only allow me to run the sessions for kids but hopefully by mid may it will open to adults. Realistically we need 14 signed upto direct debit and have around 10-11 so far, can you let me know if your son or daughter plan to return. Aim is 1st class on wed 5th may. Adults hopefully by mid may.

IJJA STUDENTS AND PARENTS: Update regarding the club reopening. At present the government rules and clegwell will allow the club to reopen on 12th April for under 18s only. My fellow coaches and I are considering the option to reopen, but we will need to have aprox 14/16 juniors signed up and paid for all lessons per month in advance via bank transfer. This makes it viable for us to under take all the risk assesments and planning to make the class as covid safe as possible whilst ensuring we can cover costs. The fee will be one set amount and cover every class we run each month, with no refund for missed lessons which i believe is similar to most other clubs and gyms these days. If you are interested booking in your kids please let me know amd i will advise costs via PM. Paul

After careful consideration based upon the government's new guidelines allowing the community centre to reopen, the instructors dont feel its possible to safely train japanese or Brazilian jiujitsu without the risk of possibly spreading covid 19. As a sport, neither are suited to training alone or at distance unless everyone decided to do katas until jan/feb. So our options are to remain closed until the new year, or teach open hand and weapons based katas for the next few months. Based on that, i would appreciate each parent or student message me (sensei paul) with their preffered option so we can make an informed choice. Regards, Paul, Ian and Johnny!

IJJA Jujitsu students/coaches:

In light of Mondays goverment advice to begin self distancing measures, i think it would be extremely foolish to continue the jujitsu classes due to the inherent nature of our sport and its close proximity. So unfortunately we need to suspend them with immediate effect, initially until Wednesday 8th April. I will endeavour to keep everyone informed in the coming few weeks, stay safe, stay well and hopefully see you all soon! Very sorry, Sensei Paul, Ian and Johnny
