Dear friends and local residents. Just a friendly warning (for those of you who haven’t already found out the hard way!) that due to this unprecedentedly wet weather recently there are portions of our Permitted Path which are flooded - if you intend to walk round The Hyde we strongly advise wearing wellies!

For those driving on and off the estate, we would be very grateful if you could please avoid going up onto the verges - they are so soft that this can cause lasting damage.

Many thanks and see you all soon - doubtless in the rain!

ADVANCE NOTICE OF WORKS.

Dear friends and local residents, please note that the permitted path that follows the main drive through The Hyde Estate will have tree surgery happening on Friday 13th September. The drives will not be closed but please be aware of the increased risk and inconvenience to passing vehicle and foot traffic. Please adhere to any signs. Many thanks

Dear friends and local residents,

Just to let you know that the back drive portion of our Permitted Path is closed today due to a private event, as per the signs on the gates.

There is no entry by the Horsham Road gate, or onwards to the Wild Garden from the top of the hill on the Front Drive, so you can still walk but won’t be able to do the full circuit.

Thank you for your kind understanding.

Dear friends and local Handcross Village Residents Group, the Highways Agency are conducting some essential works to the Main Drive bridge over the M23 between now and Friday. This means that vehicle and pedestrian access is closed.

The Hyde drives are still open as a Permitted Path but access is only possible via the back drive gate on Horsham Road.

Many thanks

Dear friends,

We have some short notice filming happening on The Hyde Estate tomorrow, Sunday 9th April, in the area of the back drive and wedding site. The back drive and access past the pond at the bottom of the hill may therefore be restricted at certain times of the day. We recommend rerouting your walk to remain on the front drive only if possible. Many thanks for your understanding, sorry for any inconvenience and Happy Easter from all at The Hyde Estate.

Dear Friends, this year is a bumper daffodil year on The Hyde and elsewhere. We hope you are enjoying them as much as we are. Please do not pick them as you use the Permitted Path through the estate - we have seen several people leaving with bunches, including many dug up by the bulbs, which is actually illegal. It spoils the views and the enjoyment of the Estate by everyone else and we kindly ask you to help us keep The Hyde looking beautiful.

Separately, we have had several incidents of dogs off leads worrying horses on The Hyde recently. Please keep dogs under close control and out of the fields.

Many thanks, and happy Spring time

The Hyde Estate drives will be closed from this evening until Saturday morning due to high winds. This is to protect walkers from falling trees and branches. The Hyde Estate will accept no liability for injuries sustained on a closed Permissive Path so please do not walk on drives, and be careful out there! Thank you

Disappointingly we have had a lot of trespassing and vandalism on The Hyde Estate recently, and some very aggressive and abusive responses when challenged. We have CCTV images and photos of a lot of those responsible.

PLEASE DO NOT WALK OFF THE DRIVES. There is shooting and forestry work taking place at all times, and it is private land.

Unless things improve we will be forced to shut the drives again, and we will publish the photos of all those who have been trespassing through Hoadlands and off the back drive online - please can we ask our kind neighbours and local residents to help us police the Estate? We love to share it with the community, and we shouldn’t be forced to put up with criminality and abuse for doing so.

Many thanks indeed to you all, and have a lovely weekend

Dear friends and local residents,

Just a gentle reminder and plea to keep dogs under close control and pick up after them when they foul the drives please. With so many young deer in the woods at the moment, free running dogs are causing them great distress, and abandoned dog waste is causing even more distress to our brilliant staff when they mow the verges, as you can imagine!

Please help us keep the Estate open and enjoyable for all, and remind others to do the same.

Many thanks
