👋 Let me start with the question I know some of you are thinking...

"She's a size 16, how can she help me change my body?"

Fair question. Here's my answer.

The body you are looking at is a very active body. Is your idea of what an active body looks like incomplete? This body has been active for the last 18 years!

I was a size 20, then a size 12 for years. I don't train for a specific size anymore. I train for strength, health and wellbeing whilst trying to enjoy life.

Some people will never choose to train with me because I’m not a size 10 and that's okay, but the clients who choose me are choosing me for the right reasons: my knowledge, my passion, my dedication to continuously better myself and those I work with, my patience, my empathy, and my ability to understand their journey based on my own experience.

I've experienced it all:

Big → small → in-between → borderline food disorder → extreme diets → weight-loss obsession → injured → recovered → the box-fitting mania, and then I discovered strength and I stopped caring about the rest.

I started to look for balance. I wanted to know as much as I could in order to help myself. I started to look at my body with the gratitude it deserves for serving me. I stopped focusing on weight-loss and instead focused on strength, confidence, mental health, supporting my body as it ages, preparing for the years to come as best I could.

All jokes aside though, I know what it takes for you to get where you need to go – because I've done it.

✨I know there is no quick fix.
✨I know you have to do all the hard work yourself.
✨I know you're going to have setbacks and you're not going to like it.
✨I know you're going to have to start again.
✨I also know you are a target for the fitness industry – because I've been it.
✨I know that the right support and guidance at the right time can be a game changer.

My biggest job as a personal trainer – on the back of my story – is starting you exactly where you are. Making you fall in love with the process. Keeping you safe while you discover your strength and ability to persevere.

If you're looking for a quick fix, I'm not your trainer. I'm not connecting myself to any "12 week transformations" or magic combinations of exercise or diet routines. Because there is no such thing – not if you're trying to care for your body and your health long-term.

In the midst of chaos, we keep aiming for balance. I'm not prepared to lie to you or keep you in a yo-yo circle.🙏🏻💖

Ever get stuck in a loop of negative thoughts? 🧠💭
Replaying past events or worrying too much about the future?
That actually has a name: repetitive negative thinking (RNT). And it is linked to depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic stress.

Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to talk about something simple that can make a real difference: movement.

A systematic review by Wang et al. looked at 19 studies and found that physical activity really helps, partly because exercise benefits you in three ways at once: physically, psychologically, and socially. That's something medications or therapy alone can't fully match.

The review showed that physical activity led to significant reductions in RNT. The best results came from mixing aerobic and resistance training, done regularly over time. Higher intensity and longer sessions worked better. Gentle practices like Yoga and Tai Chi also helped calm stressful, repetitive thoughts.

We know that endorphins associated with pleasure and relaxation are released during exercise (lasting 25–60 minutes), helping to reduce worry, overthinking and negativity. The effects become more profound with long-term frequency, as one single workout isn't enough.
The authors explain, "both psychological and physiological changes require time to stabilize and consolidate."

Working out with others also builds self-confidence and social connection, which is another key factor: exercising with others fosters a sense of belonging, further helping to break the cycle of negative thinking.

Bottom line: This Mental Health Awareness Month, remember that moving your body, regularly, and if you can, with others, is one of the best things you can do for your mind. Your brain will thank you. 💪🧠

Regular physical activity reduces stress, improves mood, and increases our ability to focus.

Resistance exercise participation can benefit several health aspects: cardiorespiratory health, vascular health, muscle oxidative capacity, mental health, muscle hypertrophy, strength, and power!🌟

When we take care of ourselves, we are also better equipped to care for others.✨💖

Treating workouts like work appointments, fixed, nonnegotiable blocks in our calendar, is a great strategy to increase adherence. It helps solidify training as a habit!

Book it, don’t question if you will attend or not, you wouldn’t do that with a work commitment!

Just turn up! It’s our job to keep trying to do the best we can for ourselves!🙏🏻
