A real nail-biter of a finish as Guestling secured the victory on the final end of the last triple to finish. Obviously an incredibly tight game throughout with everyone battling hard to help secure the win. It was yet another match that had a two games to each side result, but for once the overall score went in our favour. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon against our nearest neighbours in decent weather, apart from the wind.

END OF SEASON ARRANGEMENTS

Surprising as it may seem, the end of the season approaches.
Final roll ups will be held on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th September at 2pm as usual.
Fun Afternoon takes place on Thursday 10 September at 2pm.
It would be good to see as many members as possible at these events to round off a memorable and enjoyable season.
Greens will be closed after the last date mentioned with maintenance work getting under way. However there are a few away games over the next few weeks to complete the season.

Guestling 61 Westfield 73

Two winning triples and two losing ones but outgunned in terms of overall score on a pleasant afternoon as the end of the season approaches. Some good performances as several players found themselves playing in unusual positions in the team. The weather was kind and the rain held off until the very last end. Really friendly game played in good spirits.
Special thanks to those who stepped in late in the day to fill in and complete the team.

Guestling 77 Hollington 45

The completion of a historic double over strong opposition on a pleasant afternoon at home. The welcome overnight rain helped give a reminder of why we use the term "greens"! The outcome was that playing was much more enjoyable than on the dry earth of the last few weeks. Shirley commented in her WhatsApp post on the strong performances throughout the team and this must count as one of the best performances of the season. Well done everyone.

FINALS DAY FEAST

Wonderful range of desserts provided by members and partners on Finals Day at Guestling Bowls Club.
All these delights to follow an enjoyable barbecue supervised by chefs Garry and David.
Club Secretary Frieda sends heartfelt thanks to the chefs, the providers of the desserts and to all who helped with the organisation and participated in activities especially the washing up!!
Further thanks go to all who donated prizes and participated in the raffle which raised £131 for club funds.

A successful afternoon at Ninfield with excellent performances throughout the team in much more amenable temperatures. It was good to renew acquaintances with the opposition as the scheduled home fixture was cancelled. One point of note was that this was the first time that the three Andys and two Pauls had played in the same team!!

Something of a struggle on a near perfect afternoon at Cranbrook, probably fair to say that it was closer than the overall score suggests and definitely another enjoyable afternoon with plenty of effort all round.

Another three triples match, by arrangement as is usual against Benenden. Some rearrangement was necessary before the start but well done to all who stepped up to complete the team.
